Len never mentioned a lift, he only remarked on who messed up in the middle, he said he would drop a point for because one them messed up the steps

I feel that they were overmarked a little, but in my (very 'unknowledgeable'!) opinion, I think that their dance, mistakes aside, was better than Alesha and Matt's. I listened to the RBC, and Vincent (I think it was him!) said it was a shame about the mistakes, as it could have resulted in a 10. I feel that Kelly score was possibly a few marks too high, as I feel that with the mistakes one point deducted is about right- the score being around 9, 8, 8, 8; two points lower than it was marked.

It was easily the second highest dance of the night though, and I feel that Gethin (5th!) and Penny were overmarked to a far greater extent that Kelly was.

I actually didn't like the choreography very much I'm afraid. The bits where he flung her outwards and pulled her back in again were a bit over-executed and although it's probably a lot of people's fantasy tango move (and no doubt a few women's non-tango fantasy move too) I really didn't like her slapping him one!

I never said hat Len mentioned a lift. With the messed up "steps" he ment that sneaky little lift near the end of their routine. He also mentioned that Brendan should get a 7 1/2.

No, I'm sure he meant the stumble in the middle, and the 'lift' wasn't a blatant flouting of the rules like last year, plus Gabby had one more blatant that theirs.

As Len said, someone messed up during that routine, but there were obvious mistakes.

Stumbles
Mis-steps

Yeah, she is a good dancer, but I feel that yesterdays dance was not her best dance. I'd have given 7s and 8s, definitely not 9s!”

GAbby messed up totally, but got right into the dance as did kelly and brendan, so did alesha at some points, (my dance teacher pointed that out!)

I thought that Craig said last year that if the woman 'jumped' i.e propelled herself rather than being lifted it was ok.

Arlene would have commented on a lift (Craig too) and if he was going to put a lift in it would have been a LIFT lift plus if that constitutes a life then Gabby's definitely was.

I liked and thought it was the best Tango of the night - Len stuck to his guns so fair play but it also needs to be remembered that the mistake in this dance was Brendan's NOT Kellys.

I do wonder though if this dance had been done by any other couple would we be having this thread at all or is it because its Brendan?

I was pleasantly surprised with Kelly in the Results show. In the little clip I found her more genuine in her reaction to the judges comments this time.

Substitute Kelly for Brendan.........Thats why this thread was started.

Their dance was good but the mistake was evident on tonight's showing so I would have to agree they were overmarked - my mate phoned me tonight to say the same in her view they are the judges' favourites

I agree with that wholeheartedly, I just don't like it when people start attacking a contestant for their physical features. I'm a woman myself, and at some point of your life gravity sets in, no big deal

........ and Kelly should get a 9 so the average was the 8 he awarded them

Def didn't mention the "lift"

Ohhhh Yeah

I am still sore at that mark they gave Penny and Ian's awful jive it was the worst dance of the evening but then the fab 4 are seeing a bigger picture ”

I think almost everyone was overmarked, and I was getting annoyed with Len when he kept giving 7s to the weaker couples. Then he changed his approach with Kelly and Brendan and marked more strictly.

Bruno also had a tendency to give out undeserved 7s, but Len was worse.

I think DerChef has it right. Overmarking the poorer dancers meant they had to overmark the better ones as well, so as not to get the relative placings wrong.

Totally agree. I personally don't think that anyone should be getting over 8 in what is week 2 (2nd time they have danced).

The same is happening over in the states.

I do however agree with the order of how the dancers were placed with the judges

I wonder whether the studio audience is partly to blame. They seem to boo any mark lower than 7, and that might be influencing the judges in a subtle, subconscious way.

Also they may know that if they're harsh on dancers, it tends to bring in votes for them.

I say that Len took a mark off for the messed up steps, not because of an alleged lift.

You say " that sneaky little lift close to the end of the dance glad len picked up on that.

Len never mentioned a lift

actually not the case with me - I think Kelly is truly beautiful and seems lovely but I will be critical when I think it is justified

I can understand this being questioned, but If and It's a big if they were to get less, definitley no lower than 8's accross the board, and when you consider Craig did a a "tiny" mistake, ie 95/98% of the dance was very well done, In my opinion, they deserved at least 2 9's!

As for the final " dance-off" are they supposed to be marking what they see there & then or not? or who has more potential later on, because if it's there & then in front of them, John made a mountain of mistakes compared to the first dance. & even thoght Willie may be 'older' - I thought he was way more accurate in his 2nd dance & I wouldn't blame Erin for felling peeved at this!

Pfffffffffff,......picked up on that by saying something like "Brendan you should get a 7 1/2 etc.etc.etc. I can't recall the exact words.

Their meant to judge the Dance off.....but in reality I suppose at this stage their looking at the potential for improvement.... and later in the series they`ll just keep the better dancer in : reguardless of their performance in the Dance off.

To get top marks the celeb should match the pro, and in no dance so far has a celeb reached that standard, and I don't expect them too after their second dance. The outstanding dances where this has been achieved imo was Jill Halfpenny and Darren Bennet, Mark Rampracash and Karen Hardy.

Alesha and Matt are my favourites, but if you go back and watch Jill and Darren's jive there's really no comparison and I think 9s was too high

But she was still the best dancer of the night so deserved to be top of the Board
