Nokia N800 Internet tablet

I've been thinking about getting a small, light device that will allow me to surf the web PC-style on the bus or train and I was wondering what people thought about the Nokia N800 Internet tablet.

It's got Wi-Fi (unlike it's predessor - the 770) and a full-screen finger keyboard.

The 770 does have Wi-Fi! and a onscreen qwerty keyboard.

The N810 model is out in November (or thereabouts).
Comes with a higher clocked processor and proper pull down keyboard.

As said above though, how are you going to browse on the train/bus ?

I don't know why I thought that only the N800 had it.

GPRS for the Internet on a bus.

Since I started this thread, I've discovered a device called the Datawind PocketSurfer 2 and I was wondering if this is better.

It's got a 5" screen, built-in GPRS modem (but no Wi-Fi), loads up a web page in 7 seconds and it's only £180.

You get 20 hours free usage per month for a whole year and you can get unlimited usage for only £5.99 a month.

Using GPRS/EDGE?

I'm actually thinking about getting this device, instead:

Probably but according to the Firebox site, "Acceleration technology allows you to zip around the web like greased lightning".

£180 for the device and 20 hours surfing per month isn't bad, though - is it?

Some people think that, for the expected price of it, they should've included 3G.
