Speaker Cabling
I have just bought a new house and ripped up the new carpets in the living room.
My question is.. Should i run speaker cable from where the tv is going to be to where i want surround sound speakers.. I do not have a surround sound system yet (apparently more important things to buy but I wont get started on that) If I were to run the cable would it actually be pointless? example i buy a system £200 would i actually be able to use my cable or would theres come wired in? I hope that makes sence, Thanks Ian |

When I stripped my living room for redecorating I ran cables everywhere "just in case". For the sake of a few quid, I felt it was worthwhile.

Go for it, it'll be alot easier now than when the furniture is back in.
Just don't skimp on the quality of the cabling! |

i agree with all the above. its also worth investing in a roll og gaffer tape to hold the wires in place where you route them, i had a problem when my carpets were refitted when the sub coax got caught on the nails in the gripper rails 'cos i hadnt secured it well enough to prevent the carpet fitter kicking it over with his knee kicker tool

Do some research first. Check where the cable need to run back to for the sort of system you are going to buy. Some Cinema kits will have all the cables running back to the subwoofer. Others will run to the amp/av console.
