Sony RDR 860 - Lost channels?
Dinosdad
22-10-2007
I recently noticed that I have lost Cbeebies and the other channels on the same 'channel / mux' i.e. BBC4

My Sony TV and the freeview boxes all still have it though so I suspect the reception must be fine - or is this set of channels particularily weak and the 860 not good with weak reception?

I really dont know.

Any ideas?

ON my EPG, both ITV2 & ITV3 show as 'no event information', so I can't set the timer to record from these channels. However, ITV2+1 shows the programme information no problem.
These channels were OK before, but only started doing this in the last couple of weeks.

ITV2 and 3 recently changed PIDs in some areas. Run a fresh channel store. Might be prudent to erase the present versions of ITV 2 and 3 first.

Any ideas anyone on how to resolve my problem?

Try a rescan is the obvious first step. Then check the coax connections to your 860. If it is a less sensitive tuner (not noticed this myself) then checking your cable and connections on it and renewing where required might just get you the channels back without faffing with the aerial.

Tried that but no joy.

Also the coax feed into my Sony TV comes out of the 860 and that picks up CBeebies without a problem.

Any other thoughts?

Also tried a factory reset but still no change.

Try it on another aerial feed. It could be that the tuner in the 860 is less sensitive than the one in your TV as you suspect. If a different aerial feed works then check your coax and aerial alignment as suggested.

No experience of this myself as I'm line of site and 5 miles from the transmitter so both my 40w and 860 have always picked everything up fine.
