I was just wondering what are people's opinion of Philp Jackson the red button commentator.

Having never "pressed the red button" I have no idea what his commentating is like.

a few questions

do you think he gives fair and constructive remarks

do you think he is qualified enough to know what is good and bad in ballroom/latin dances

in other words does he know what he is talking about

He has a lovely voice and I have no reason to doubt he knows his stuff BUT he isn't entertaining in the least. He bangs on about heel leads and doesn't pick on negatives very much. TBH he would be better as a judge in front of the celebs and the judges on Red Button! There would be far less upset.

The use of a pro dancer with him is far better as they tend to be a bit more realistic in their assessment without resorting to nastiness.

He is the same in person as well - had him to do an examination at the school once - would not have him again far too boring no humour with the little ones at all

I've met him too. Definitely one of those who somehow manages to keep the British dancescene in Dinosaur-Land!!!

I listened to him last year and found his voice lovely and relaxing , I always thought he was fair and knew what he was talking about... I have not pressed the red button this year as someone said the needy one was helping out.

I can't think who you mean by that

The professional judge and retired professional dancer Karen Hardy teamed up with Philip a couple of weeks ago

And professional dancer Vincent teamed up with him last week

Vincent needy
