01 Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love 02 Take That - Rule The World 03 Sugababes - About You Now 04 Britney Spears - Gimme Love 05 McFly - The Heart Never Lies ![]() It's been confirmed by HMV that McFly outsold both Leona and Take That on Monday (but that they always have a surge of hardcore fans rush-buying their singles at the start of the week, before fading mid-week). So, so far it's 1. McFly 2. Leona 3. Take That Leona will clench it though! |

Thank heavens. I'm sure I'm not the only one who was getting tired of that bland, no-mark Sugababes song clogging the number 1 spot. As a number 1 single, it is totally forgettable.

Leona's sales are massive. She's sold 66,000 so far. Take That are second on 29,000.

Britney would have done better if Gimme More hadn't been leaked over a month ago.

It warms me that N-Dubz are no where near the Top 5.

Leona is the first X-factor contestant to have her follow up single a number 1 (well at the moment).
I really don't see what the big deal is about TT new single, i think it's kinda of bland to be honest. |

Any other week TT would have been number 1 they have sold incredibly well shifting more copies than Patience did in its first few days.
Leona's song seems to drone on & on I'm not a fan. britney I thought would have been higher

Why this week?
You have to wonder why TT chose to release their single this week, knowing that Leona's was out and their chances of a no.1 were severely hampered. Waiting a week would have seemed a better idea?
However, perhaps it is not as bizarre as it looks. The possibility of a "chart battle" always sends sales higher than normal (their no.2 is set to top 100,000 compared to Leona's 200,000, and that is about ten times what you can need to get no.1). Thus, the buzz over the battle for no.1 gets people out buying the record. I am guessing that they or their record company may have chosen to sacrifice being no.1 for the additional sales this may have generated? Or am i just being silly now? |

I think it would've been #1 last week, had the physical been out also. Whose smart idea was it for the week gap?! I don't follow UK charts, but seriously, do they do this for most artists? Have it available to download one week, then release the CD the next? Stupid idea.
Congrats to Leona, really hope she stays at #1. |

Bingo. I almost feel like buying the TT record myself to keep that wailing, screechy Leona off the number one spot...but I think I'd rather spend the money on a large Toblerone.

Wouldn't have made a difference anyway. |
