Can any one tell me if games from the Old Playstation be played on the newer version

IIRC, All PS1 games can be played on a PS2, but PS1 games can't be played on European PS3s ( I may be wrong on that point, though). The European PS3s also have limited compatibility with PS2 games, and the new lower priced model is not compatible at all.

Actually quite a lot of PS1 games can be played on a PS3 as long as it is the 60gb model and has the relevant updates.
