Ferguson widescreen TV/DVD Combo query
stofer

The In - Laws Recently purchased the above Tv & Dvd Package and set it up fine.

However, when viewing any widescreen broadcast with the black bars showing, the top black bar "goes down" on the Top Right Corner.

On Closer Inspection, the top of the screen seems to curve.

Station DOGs seem to slant. Most noticeable on TCM and BBC Interactive.

I Have well thumbed the Instruction but cannot find any information about rectifying the problem.

Can I rectify it or is it a case of waltzing the tv back to the shop ?

Any help will be greatly recieved.

Thanks

If it's a slight bend - say half a centimetre or 1cm, then that's not so uncommon with most TV.s..... if the bend dips down much more than that then I'd take it back or at least ask the store to send out an engineer.

Sometimes it's nigh on impossible to correct this sort of geometry problem but sometimes something can be done by an engineer.

It's not an adjustment that you can do via the remote control.

Also have you tried reducing the constrast level? - usually it's set too high by the manufacturers, lowe it to halfway or so and see if that helps at all... in any case, it'll be easier on the eye and not so hardwearing on the picture tube.
