BT to SKY Talk

I am thinking about taking up Sky BB and Tv and was a bit confused with the Phone part.

I am currently with BT and want to continue to pay them line rental, but want to swotch to SkyTalk.

Basically, how does this work? Do we keep same number and do we have to do any BT wise. Regarding who charges us for calls etc

At the moment, both Sky Talk Freetime and Sky Talk Unlimited are CPS (Carrier PreSelect) packages. Sky are, however, due to start offering line rental too before the end of the year but, I believe, CPS will still be available to those like you, who sensibly (IMHO) want to leave their line rental with BT.

Carrier PreSelect is explained in layman's terms HERE.

If you click the 'HERE' link in the red text at the bottom of that post, you'll see why I recommend leaving line rental with BT.

Sky are now offering line rental for £10 per month according to their website. Caller display is also a free option.

Though note when using someone else for line rental they can and do block use of cheap call access. So depending on the type of number you call saving a few pence on line rental means you are then stuck in spending several pounds more in call costs.

How long should it take to switch over to Sky Talk?
