Boots sell a really effective Boots own-brand cough linctus for dry tickly cough: Pholcodine Linctus. You have to ask at the counter for it: it's in a blue and white bottle on the shelf behind the pharmacy counter, next to the Venos etc. I bought some yesterday and it's amazing. Cost 1.75. Hope you feel much better soon!

I was just going to recommend pholcodeine linctus. I swear its brilliant and usually cheap too as its unbranded.

You can buy it in any pharmacy it doesn't have to be Boots (in fact in my experience the local pharmacy ones taste much nicer)

Try it with just a tiny amount of honey and some hot water, that's what I do as I don't like anything too sweet.
Some people would also add a wee dram of whisky of course!

Warm lemonade seems to work. A spalsh of whisky doesn't hurt either.

When honey and lemon with hot water (whisky optional) does not work, get yourself to the doctor, any cough that makes you sick could be a chest infection that needs antibiotics to clear.

Are you a bit run down? If you are at school/college you have just had a long half term and many people get sick when they get a break. Chest infections happen to a lot of people when they are run down.

I find most over the counter cough medicines do not work for long, only good if you have had a cold, to shift the aftermath.

Jay my husband had a tickly cough that lasted months and no cough medicines worked. In the end someone recommended Ricola herbal throat lozenges. Surprisingly, they stopped it in it's tracks. Amazing little things.

I just get simple linctus if a cough annoys me. I normally just try and cough the problem away. We cough for a reason.

Fisherman's Friends. Or for something stronger try Vicks 44. http://www.vicks.com/vicks44-cough-relief.php It's the only medicine that has ever worked for me.

One of the best remedies for a tickly cough is honey........combined with lemon (which cuts through any phlegm) and ginger which warms the throat
