Another Media Streamer question
dubmuffin

I'm on the look out for a media streamer/digital media adapter and what I really want to do with it would be to view 4OD and BBC iPlayer stuff on my TV instead of my laptop, preferably without the computer even being on, a bit like wifi internet radio but with video.
I've looked at a few models, eg. Netgear EVA & D-Link DSM520 but can't quite make out which one would be suitable. Hi Def would be nice but not essential yet, although good interconnects are always desirable.

Of course, in an ideal world, I could also stream my BTVision recordings too

Any ideas? Thanks...

Have you thought of getting an XBox360 or a PS3? You could get all you describe and DVD, Blu Ray or HDDVD and gaming all in one box. At the moment you'd still need the laptop to acquire much of the internet based stuff, but with something like TVersity on the laptop, you'd be laughing.

I had looked into it briefly but have no interest in gaming and it seems that a mod is required for maximum benefit (with the xbox?). I dont really want to make a project of it and its more than I want to pay. I'd like an out of the box solution if possible. I guess leaving the laptop on permanently would be acceptable if I could view on-demand catch up services through my TV.
