If your debit card is due to expire, do the bank automatically send a new one?

Well, same as the topic

My card expires next month. I can't remember what happened last time it expired... do the bank (HSBC in my case) automatically send out a new one or do I need to ring them?

They send it out automatically, usually a couple of weeks beforehand.

And if it's a Lloyds TSB Credit Card....

They will send you a new Visa card...

Then the following week tell you they will replacing your Visa card with a Mastercard one within three weeks...

Then actually post it four weeks later during the postal strikes - muppets. So in the space of five weeks I've had three Lloyds TSB Credit Cards

They are supposed to, but they forgot once with me and it then took ages to come through. Doesn't hurt to ring and check.

We have a joint account with HSBC.

Our cards expired a couple of months ago.

The Bank sent me a letter asking me to pick it up in person from the local branch, but they sent the wife's through the post!

When I asked why I had to pick it up they said it was a security measure, but they couldn't explain why the same wasn't true for the wife's card.

I'm same as you, with the same bank. Apparently they have been having problems with the cards and also with the strike goin on, a lot of people aren't receiving their new cards.

I called them and they have send another one out, but I havent received it yet.

HSBC have just sent my new one through the post - just be aware that they now send them in brown envelopes that look like they could be junk mail, and with a second class stamp on. I threw my last card out thinking it was some rubbish mailshot or something

I'd be due to get a new NatWest Card Plus debit card next month, but they're replacing the Card Plus accounts with 'Adapt' accounts, so I'm not sure which kind of card I'll be getting!

Argh. I just realised that my local branch is in Manchester but all the letters come to my house here in Middlesbrough (I was a student).

I hope it's sent via the post!

If you have any regular payments set up on the credit card, remember to update the supplier with the new expiry date yourself. I got caught out when my new card was issued and ended up with a non-payment fee from my ISP as the expired card bounced the monthly payment

Does the PIN come before or after the card?

My new PIN arrived this morning but I have no card - I'm with Abbey.
