Pioneer VSX-1016V & Speakers

I have just got a Pioneer VSX-1016V.

Previously I had just a cheap Creative Labs Digital surround system, is it possible to use the little Creative speakers with the Pioneer or would it be too powerful for them?

I have a set of B&W Stereo speakers that work well with it, but only having two is a little restrictive. Obviosuly if the smaller speaks just won't work then I will look to get a centre and Sub to go with the other two B&Ws.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

you would have to look at the speakers for ohms annd look at your amp specs just to make sure

you could try adjusting treble and bass to see if it helps the sound

also turn the sound down on the b + w speakers to allow the other ones to be heard...... do a sound test

I would imagine the Creative Labs speakers are only VERY low power, although they may have imaginary high ratings printed on them. Presumably your Pioneer has real power ratings?, and I suspect you would find it fairly easy to blow the Creative Labs speakers.

But as long as you don't turn it up, they would probably be OK? - but a moments inattention, or a sudden loud part, could kill them.
