Upgrade on O2 to iPhone
I've been due an upgrade for a few months and pay £35pm as a business customer.
2 different O2 upgrade people have told me that I WILL have to pay the £279 to get the iPhone, and that I WON'T need to pay and it is covered in my upgrade. Anyone know for sure? |

Id say you will have to pay, as i havent seen the phone free on any contract anywhere by o2, not through themselves, or places like carphone warehouse.

I like the SE's. |

You will have to pay for an iphone. Also if you got a phone before the 18th Sept you can get out of your contract free. (only of you are getting an iphone) Its £279 no matter who you are Quote:
Existing Customers
You'll need to start a new 18 month minimum term contract and pay for your iPhone handset but you can keep your existing number. So everyone will know it's you when you call them to brag. If you were an O2 customer or upgraded on or before 18th September 2007 You can switch to an O2 tariff for iPhone without paying any remaining monthly charges on your existing contract. If you joined or upgraded after 19th of September 2007 You have a choice, you can either: (i) Enter into a second pay monthly contract whilst keeping your existing contract; or (ii) Start a new contract by paying a one-off transfer charge of £219 instead of the remaining monthly charges on your existing contract. O2 Simplicity and O2 Pay & Go customers will not be required to pay any additional charges |

Is this confirmed that you can get out of exisiting o2 contracts to upgrade to the iPhone ? - I thought it was just an unconfirmed rumour.

Oh No!! This is awful news!!
![]() I bought an N95 in April on a 12 month contract and figured I'd have no way out until next April and so I bought an iPod Touch to keep me going until April. But now this means I can get a iPhone in just 2 weeks - AARRGGHHhh!!!! I just can't resist a gadget....... |

i have an xda orbit which i think is fantastic. but having seen this news about ending contracts early (meaning i'll effectively get the orbit at a discount) i'm seriously considering ebay-ing the orbit and getting an iphone... |

someone I know is selling their N95 for £200 on ebay just to buy an iphone
And just in case, anyone is wondering why the 18th sept is the cut of date. O2 announced the iphone was theirs on the 19th. Which leads to an important question.... What happens if you upgraded/got a new contract on the 19th but before 11am? I'll ask work tomorrow

I just spoke to an O2 representative on the phone who seemed completely confused. I told her what the web site says regarding upgrades: Quote:

Basically I last upgraded in June and want to upgrade to the iPhone - I just wanted confirmation that I could do this without paying a buy-out fee. Can someone absolutely confirm this? |
