Hi everyone.

I havent properly posted since the end of last series, but I'm getting back onboard now things are hotting up.

I just felt that tonight's two dances arent the most inspiring to watch over and over. The samba especially seems a dance where the required elements stick out like a series of 'checks'. Some of the same moves also feature in the Smooth, so maybe that added to the repitition.

Compared to the Jives and the Tangos last week,
I just felt slightly uninspired tonight which is highly unusual for me watching Strictly. Am I alone in my thoughts?

Not alone at all. I just feel a little deflated as I look forward to SCD so much but it felt like a lot of them had done little training and just went through the motions. The judges had been at the drinks cabinet before the show methinks as they were WEIRD without exception

I feel like that because of the results show being on a sunday, it somehow takes the gloss off it for me!

tonight's show was a bit crap tbh!

Apart from the illegal lift Brendan and Kelly's As was the best dance of the series so far. Captured the Hollywood movie glamour of Fred and Ginger perfectly.

The gloss is definitely going I think.
The judges are more shrill and it all seems a bit desperate to me.
I did enjoy Letitia's pleasure in her dancing though.

I don't feel as if some of the pro dancers are putting enough effort into making the dances look and feel the way they are supposed to and some of the music is mostly attrocious and not suitable.
If Ian Waite thought that was a samba,He is sadly mistaken.

The Judging was a shambles and as head Judge Len Goodman should keep them in order....and someone please lock Bruno in a cupboard,He gets more like a pantomime dame every week!

I'm glad I wasnt alone in questioning the spectacle tonight.

No results show on a saturday night is definitely leaving me at a loose end and making me think I should be out instead!

i enjoyed bruce and aleisha and kelly and matt. ooh and gabbys face when she still didnt get scores as good as the favourite girls

I think the Samba is one of the hardest dances to really enjoy watching when not done well because it ends up looking weird - and it is almost impossible for the amateurs to do it really well because its got difficult timings and needs to be done about twice as fast as any of them are doing it.

I sort of agree with this. There needs to be a bit more care when making use of ...erm ..original musical choices, in order to help to draw out the feel and character of the dance. (For the audience and for the celebs.)

I didn't mind Ian being a bit creative as this adds spice - BUT I think he's one of the better pros in terms of choreography. Camilla and James’ Mein herr Tango, Darren and Emma's Bond Paso...all unusual but I felt really worked.

Some of this week routines lacked the necessary "feel" and some were a bit well ....dull...and I usually like the sambas even if they are a bit iffy - E.g Peter and Erin and Brendan and Claire .

The American Smooth is a fantastic dance and I thought that Kelly, Alesha and Matt danced it beautifully.

I only met her about about a month ago, and I would not doubt her claim to be a Princess! I'm assuming its not you, although stranger things have happened. If your from the Midlands, and in your early 20s then it would be fairly bizare.

There doesn't seem the same sparkle as there was in previous series.
I mean I got so involved in last series but don't think there is any real chance of that happening this year.

I totally agree with this and thought that tonight in particular was very very bland. ITT is aswell this year.

Foxtrot and Paso next week. I'm looking forward to the foxtrot and very weary of certain paso's

I agree. At the end of tonights show I was left saying..'is that it'. IMHO the Samba should be scrapped and the AS left for a little further in.

I think that's the first time the AS has been done so early on and I think that's a mistake really. It's miles better when everyone's had a chance to do a bit more ballroom and then loosen up a bit. And there were some very lacklustre performances tonight...

It's definitely not as good as it used to, the Sunday results show has ruined it a bit and the judges are about five minutes away from throwing glasses of water at each other and storming off.

I have to agree, I usually adore at least one of the celebs by now and I do like a few like Alesha and Matt Di Angelo but it's all very much of a muchness. Like in series 4 I loved Mark, series 3 it was Bill, series 1, Natasha. I'm missing Karen, I have to say.

Just hope the Cutler's stay in for a long time, yet.

Me too missing Karen's choreography And Vincent's - of course Thank goodness for the wondrous Flavia (am also a fan of lovely Matt C). In general, the choreography so far has been rather bland and uninspired :yawn: Am in permanent mourning for lack of Vincent but, even so, without Flavia I'd be seriously 'wot-evah' about this series
