Maybe we've been watching different shows, but to me they do "gel" perfectly. They have a great chemistry going on. Which was visible from their first dance, the rumba. Even when you watch them training,...it's great. This Alesha & Matthew Cutler partnership is just perfect, and I can't imagine Alesha with anyone else then Matthew Cutler. ”

I completely agree, I love Matt & Alesha together.

But I can see how you don't 'get' them.. I have that same feeling with a few couples I haven't warmed to that other people love... I guess it's just each to their own! Everyone looks for different things when watching dances I guess.

Whatever floats your boat

I don't see the chemistry between Matt and Alesha as there is between, Gethin and Camilla, Matt and Flavia, Kelly and Brendan.

Would have been very interesting to see her partnered with either Brendan or James.

Have we opened another branch or is this the outside smoking area.

Frell-tastic, sorry if you feel overwhelmed, I know its not our intention. Lots of us keep to the two dedicated threads, but if you ever venture in you will often find us discussing our favourites in an intelligent way - as well as a lot of simple adoration.

Totally interested in your opinion about our couple; looking for improvements and trying to see them through others eyes actually increases my enjoyment of the whole SCD experience. (Spent the whole dance noticing the occasional 'funky' right arm).

So feel free 'not to get them' and expand on your ideas - we can take it

Maybe so.....but I think his best partnership was with Denise and if I ruled the SCD world Ian would have no say in the matter

I guess this is where the personal taste thing comes in though because I personally can't really see much chemistry between G&C (though this has improved heaps when you compare it to his first dance)

Personally my problem with Alesha is her OTT exuberance after every single dance - I know she's just coming down from a high but please can someone give her something else to say other than 'I'm luvving this' as it's driving me nuts.

Also, I'm disappointed that Matt isn't giving her more to do - for me their dances lack excitement and the WOW factor which I honestly think she's more than capable of, perhaps if she had more complex choreography then the 'hype' would be more justified.

I find it quite funny, but I know Kelly's 'exuberance' can sometimes grate, so I understand it driving you nuts.

However, I do have to say, I hope never to hear Matthew try 'urban street' language ever again.

I posted it elsewhere but want to response to this point.

Totally confused by what Matthew can do to push Alesha more than at present. Yesterday, she was given complicated changes of rhythm (mentioned by Craig); a tap-style sequence and a change of mood at the end. I'm not counting seconds: but with one lift and a very small lift, Alesha most probably spent more time dancing than any other AS.

Can you given examples of what other professionals are doing to showcase their celebrities talents more than Matthew is doing Alesha?

There have been three great routines so far, danced really well by Alesha but choreographed by Matthew.

Paace - Point taken, sorry. (Written without my brain in gear)

Strange how we all see things differently. I think she and Matt are very well suited, there is good chemistry. If I didn't know better, I would even think they were falling in love! That's how good they are - to my eyes.

Having watched all three AS's of Kelly, Alesha and Gethin back to back I have revised my opinion and Alesha and Matt were excellent and yes they do have wonderful chemistry. The first dance is always difficult to assess with nothing else to compare it too. I don't think Matt was the best of the three. Maybe the reason he got the four 9's was because he had to lead.

I love them together, I think they compliment each other so well & genuinely like each other.

Brendan would have got annoyed by her - it would have been like Sarah Manners all over again who he branded a 'ladette'.

She's good but I don't think she's as far ahead of the field as it appears on here. The AS wasn't very exciting for me.

Spoiler
I'd be extremely surprised if she was everyones cup of tea; even more so, than the exit of Gabby this evening.

All that really matters is that there's enough of us that do 'buy' into her and Matthew to ensure that they both stay in. At this stage, that doesn't even have to be the majority of voters.

And I surmise, that there definitely is, by quite a healthy margin.

What has emerged this week especially is that there is no one who is actually very far ahead of the field , contrary to what may have appeared to be the case .
Also , the GBP can still turn everything upside down when they react top a personality , a sense of unfairness , a roasting etc !
I'd say Matt sneaked ahead this week . I felt theirs was the most exciting routine on a night of ordinary sambas and lots of mistakes .

Sports fan , did you mean to put a spoiler on this thread ?

I don't dislike her, I just have others I prefer more. I think she's enjoying it, but I think Gabby too is loving it, it just comes out in different ways. I didn't think her Jive was as good as the judges seemed to think it was, but I did enjoy it. I wouldn't be disappointed if she won I think she'd be a deserving winner, she wouldn't be my first choice though currently.

Alesha's obviously a good dancer, but not as good as some people think, IMO.

I just don't see the 'spark'. As the weeks are going on there are other couples who are easily matching - if not slightly bettering - her performances.

I know what you mean there. Watching the show I remember thinking that Matt's was by far the best (followed by Kelly), but after watching it back I wasn't so sure. I appreciated just how good Alesha's was with difficult choreography. Going first (at least when there is lots of couples) certainly is a disadvantage.

Ooops, your right Ardie. But I'm at a loss how to do it.

But I would have to disagree with you on how popular certain couples are and are not. I could go into a long winded explanation of who and why I think (supported by, yes only circumstantial evidence) are and are not popular. But suffice to say, we can now begin to categorise couples into potential semi-final/final candidates, and those that are NOT going to win. The former category including 4 couples at most.

The mere fact that I feel I can do this, implies to me, that there is a definite division between these two camps.

Nothing is absolutely certain, and it is quite possible that Matt, or Kelly or Alesha could sustain an injury, but barring unforseen accidents etc, I'd be gobsmacked if either of these three are booted off in the next 4 or 5 weeks. They have demonstrated an ability to master both latin and ballroom, have a popular following, the judges like them etc, etc.

So yes, I do think we can make some reasonably accurate predictions. Not on who is definitely going to go next week, but on which few couples will stay.

I do like Matt and Alesha (my favourites), although I still think that she has some advantages over some older less experienced contestants (e.g. her singing/group experience counts for something).

I do think that her and Matt have a fantastic chemistry. I think it is based on him being a great person (he doesn't have to showcase himself like for instance Brendan (sorry Brendan supporters) and she sincerely enjoys dancing. Last year Emma went on my nerves with her constant complaining about the training. I don't think we will get that from Alesha. Kelly (and I'm not against her) run already out of the training room in a fluff, Matt and Flavia had a big flare up (although I loved their AS) etc. For me, it's about determination, loving what you are doing and getting on with it. What I would like to see is how she reacts, when she receives bad comments from the judges. Let's face one thing about Kate last night, she took the bad comments really well.

I have the same problem with Kelly and her Oh my gosh,...etc,....I was SO nervous,....yeah Einstein, everyone is nervous, don't have to hear it four times in a row.LOL Like someone else said earlier, each his/hers own. I don't like Kelly for her OTT behaviour,...I can understand that there are people out there who feel the same about Alesha. We just have to agree to disagree on this point.

Yep, well said,...I have that same feeling when I see them. There is this connection between them, which I haven't seen with the other couples so far.
