The entertainment value of Saturday's show was top class throughout. The whole show had a natural and benevolent feel about it. Many of the most entertaining moments were those that were spontaneous and unscripted.
The technical lowlites, such as Kate and Kenny, were, in terms of entertainment, really great. In particular, the natural behaviour of Kate and Anton just after they had finished their dance was so sheepish and charming. No-one could script reactions like theirs.
The only slightly sour moment was when the judges marked down Kelly and Brendon, on a technicality. This moment was rescued by Bruno, who, defying the judges' own rules, gave the pair a 10, thereby nullifying the down-marking of the other 3 judges.
Doubtless any officious schoolmasters, magistrates, Guy of Gisborne, or the Sherrif of Nottingham, who might have been watching, would have found Bruno's behaviour reprehensible. But I thought he was great. Many people regard the judges somewhat as baitable schoolteachers, and I think the many of the public really like it when someone puts 2 fingers up to them, and gets away with it.
And the show ended on another hightlight, with East Enders boy, done good. Who would have predicted that.
Having sneeked a peep at the results spoiler, I'm pleased with this week's result. It might not please purists, and will probably outrage many who subscribe to this forum, but it was a mass vote against over-seriousness, and in favour of enjoyable entertainment.
