Hi there, I have search these forums and av forum as well with no joy. Does anyone know how to connect a laptop to the panel. I have tried the component socket ext4 using a standard rgb cable. This worked fine for the samsung panel I had before.

All help appreciated.

I thought the Sharp had a standard VGA socket on it?, with an adaptor for connecting Component to it (via unused pins). I've never had occasion to do it on a Sharp, but presumably you simply connect via a VGA lead and select the PC input on the menu?.

Yeah thats what I thought too. Ive tried that. The laptop know that another display is connected but when you switch between the two nothin happens. I use the same vga port as I use for the 360 (except the component adapter)

Its really frustrating.

Like I said I've not done it on a Sharp, but are you definately selecting the VGA socket on the Sharp? (probably NOT the same as the Component sockets), and are you sure you're using a supported resolution?.

Yeah. There is only one port 'analogue rgb pc/component'. There is an adapter for the xbox 360 for the component cables.

Could you explain the resolution aspect of your comments. I read in the manual for the tv that the video card should conform to the VESA 60htz standard. How would I check that??

Yes, but do you have to select either option seperately?, VGA doesn't usually have Component on it - I presume they just use some of the unused pins on the socket for the Componenrt input. It 'may' automatically select?, by something like a wire link in the adaptor?, but you may need to select either option seperately - this would explain why you get nothing, if you're selecting Component.
