Gabby - more consistent plus more stamina - Penny was tiring towards the end of the Samba both times

Gabby who tried so hard went out with my respect,

I didn't understand why Len didn't vote Gabby too, as he's the one who is so into the technique of dances.

Reading through the threads I must say that I have found it slightly hypocritical that some state Penny because of personality yet in other threads people are told it should all be about the dance.

I've seen this before about Gabby's performance - that it "lacked emotion". Didn't look like that to me - Gabby looked exuberant and her dancing was exhilarating.
Whereas Penny has little skill and dances like a baby elephant. We had one like that at our ballet classes years ago - her parents thought her a likely prima ballerina. The judges in this show are acting like that girl's parents - endowing Penny with abilities she clearly does not possess.

It wasn't only at the silly whim of the voters that Gabby went - the judges chucked her off!
Penny is getting favoured unfairly and it is beginning to backfire on her.

I agree, how can the judges expect the public to vote fairly if they don't follow their own advice.
Although to be fair I think it is the producers decision and they just follow orders.

i have no control over the final 2 but as they were the final 2 and this is a scd forum my question is not irrelevant

There was nothing "robotic" in Gabby's performance. All Penny did was jump up and down on the spot and turn round a few times. Her routine lacked difficulty and hardly looked like a Samba ! It looked like a bit of "dad dancing".
Gabby. Her dance had more content, Penny looked like she was posing and like Romus said her dance "lacked difficulty and hardly looked like a Samba". Although, neither of them should have been in the bottom 2.
To me, there is more to dancing than just getting the steps right. Gabby was technically the better dancer, but it was like she couldn't hear the music, or that the music didn't mean anything to her.
I like a dancer to look like the music is so much a part of them, they've just can't stop themselves from dancing.
Gabby treated like a sport, but it isn't, you can't just learn technique. She didn't seem to connect with the music.
But the result tonight was a tragedy and I'm sorry that either of them had to go.

For me Penny was/is the better dancer. I agree with looby383x.
Gabby was mechanial - a gymnast of course - and completely unmusical. She said herself she didn't hear the music. Ballroom dancing is all about dancing to the music... the dances come from the music.. a particular style.. if you hear the music you feel the dancing.. you put some emotion into it.. it's not just about the technique.
I agreed with what Len said in the Results show.. Penny was the more rounded dancer... she will give more in weeks to come.
I do sympathise with Gabby after seeing the Results show and her reaction and wanting to stay... but I do think she was more into the competition than the actual art of learning Ballroom dancing. If she wasn't feeling the music she wasn't learning the true art.

I just remembered a song from the film version of 'A Chorus Line'... when i first saw this film and everytime I hear this song it makes me cry. It makes me think about how the dancers who are voted off want to stay and dance some more.

Maybe purely on technique Gabby is the better dancer. But I find Penny more enjoyable to watch, and I thought her samba had more innovative choreography and was danced with a bit more flair.
Patently neither Gabby nor Penny should have been anywhere near the so-called 'dance-off' tonight.

Gabby is the better dancer. I'm not convinced by Penny at all. But obviously she stayed as she has a famous partner and long legs...
