Is this the start of the Anton backlash

So people, will the anti-kate/Anton brigade start to tap away at their phone in an attempt to restore the show to what they see as a dance competition gone bad, or will it all settle down and people accept the inevitable; that Anton is bigger than the show itself?
Over to you ladies and gents

People who love Anton would be better off spending their cash on calling the BBC and demanding he has a decent partner next year and not humiliating him and poor Kate each week - not to mention making the tendonitis worse.

I really doubt that the votes are particulary swelled by any 'Anton effect'. This has happened series after series, with a variety of different pros:

Chris and Hanna
Karen and Bill
Fiona and Brendan

It happens whoever the pro is. Really, I don't think being 'anti-Anton' or 'pro-Anton' has anything to do with it.

I have to disagree based on what i've seen written on here. People seem to vote for Anton rather than his partner. In my opinion he is in danger becoming bigger than show itself. As a result of this will the non-Anton lovers start a backlash.

Julian and Erin - another example of popularity over dancing ability, and very entertaining too.

OK, it might seem like that, but this board is very unrepresentative of the rest of the GBP most of the time. Besides which, I was chatting on the Anton fan thread at the beginning of the show and most of us were saying that we wouldn't vote for Kate if she were the worst, which she clearly is, however dedicated we are to Anton. I think you're both overestimating the power of Anton fans, and underestimating our honesty and sense of what's right.

Anton is actually quite a minor favourite, with as many detractors as supporters, as far as I can tell. My gran hates him, for example. Someone like Brendan has infinitely more 'star power' because he's made himself a celebrity in his own right, seperate to the show. I see no danger of Anton 'overwhelming the show'. I think it's far more likely that Kate is popular because the GBP think she's been hard done by, as it has time and time again in the past.

Why should there be a Anton backlash? It's not his fault how the GBP votes.

Well said Xadie! Anton is by far my most favourite pro, but I've not voted for him once this season, as Kate is just too bad. I know there is a bit of a journey involved, but she's painful to watch.

Didn`t happen last year when he was with that awful woman, erm erm can`t remember her name

Saying that at least Kate is more likeable than her.

I agree. There was a lot of high emotion earlier on last night and tonight. People shouldn't blame Kate or Anton - they are doing the job they have been paid to do. If they stay or go is down to judges/public vote.
Some people are not going to like it no matter what. That's up to them. I say let them alone to get on with it.

Anton is lovely but he has been voted off in previous series. It is Kate people are voting for, not him. I don't know why - nothing personal against Kate who appears to be really nice, but she can't dance for toffee.

I salute you xadie!!

We won't deny that some of us did and wil vote for Anton regardless of how bad a dancer his partner is. However, there are just as many of us (Anton fans) who have never voted for Kate this series because we don't enjoy the Kate-Anton dance partnership.

Just like the rest of the British public!!
