The only way I can think of sorting out the fiasco that happened tonight but retain the public vote would be if the judges marked as normal and then the public get to vote on who to save out of the bottom 2 or 3 couples.

That way the judges actually have control a bit more but yet the public still have a say and the bbc and charities still makes some money from public voting.

It would protect the better dancers and keep them in competition longer.

There are lots of potential 'solutions'....but most of them would lead to a reduction in voting revenue.

One of the reasons for the current arrangement is that it encourages the maximum number of people to vote each and every week...because no couple is ever 'safe'.

but results like tonight must damge the show in the long run. so surely it needs to be sorted so things like that cant happen

Lots of people make this sort of statement...but where's your evidence? You may want it to be damaged because you want the best dancers to survive but the ratings speak for themselves.

This is RTV...not a sporting contest.

I don't think it will to be honest..the drama and potential shock evictions are all part of the package.

That is the sensible solution and would definitely weed out the poorer dancers, but sense and sensibilty does not seem to be an option, with programme makers.

I think you need a little education.

As we are saying on other threads, "the viewers are asked to vote for their FAVOURITE celeb...not the best"

We are always told that if we want to see our FAVOURITE back again next week...phone in.

There is never any request for us to vote for the best dancer....

I assume the whole lot is recorded on Saturday night!

Also, how can the judges comment on who was too good to be in the "dance-off" and how "Jo-Public" got it wrong when we are invited to vote on Sunday evening after the program for who we think will dance the best the following Saturday!??

you are right they dont ask us to voted for the best dancer but then look how upset they were at the bottom 2. so i dont need educating they do!
