Three lifts. Why?

Brendan knows he has a winner here, so why break the rules?

For me, it's so predictable for Brendan to be 'Brendan' (rule-breaker), it's getting a little boring.

But I would like comments (Kelly/Brendan fans and non fans alike, but please no haters!) from anyone who cares to comment:

1) Will this rule breaking thing spell the beginning of the end for them? (public gets sick of them breaking the rules for no good reasons)
2) Bruno's prawn-head overmarking put the first nail to their coffin (ala Emma Bunton)? Public sees the overmarking and went right off them?
3)Kelly's reactions at the judges' outburst, will it turn the public off her from now on?

I hope to hear opinions and possibly 'intelligent' and interesting discussions...

I think situation No2 for me. I get fed up with blatent favouritism, and Bruno's mark was clearly that! I want honest marking and honest comments that are constructive and non-personal.
Gosh I want the impossible I think!

I'm not a big fan of them, but (a big but) I thought they dance well together and she has some real talent.

However, I didn't like the fact that he broke the rules and that Bruno disregarded this completely. I also didn't like Kelly's reaction tonight (e.g. clapping to Bruno's outburts, and booing the other judges' outbursts). Nonetheless it shows that she isn't false as some people have suggested on here, because if she was she would have been more careful. I could imagine that this will have a big backlash for them, I don't think it endeared them to the public.

Hopefully the ITT folks will read this and pick up some to ask the judges or the couples in their interview!

I am a Brendan lover.

He was wrong to do the lift, I believe that if they had done the lift and was appropriately marked down for it by all the judges then that would have been the end of it. But because of what Bruno did (overmarking them) it is a worry that they will be penalised by the GBP for it, when it was something that was out of their control.

I do think the 2 crimes need to be thought of separately to be fair to Brendan and Kelly.

Kelly's behaviour (Brendan wasn't there at the time so no critisim of Brendan is justified) - she did come accross as enjoying the attention that the overmarking had brought them. Bruno was saying he really enjoyed their dance, so I'm not sure any of the others would have reacted any differently.

Have to say that I am liking them more than I thought so far and last nights show will do nothing to change that view.

IMO the mark Bruno gave is Bruno's problem not theres- also the end board positions were fair.

Kelly was joking around reacting to the argumen- Dom was doing a thumbs down and Alesha was next her laughing so I think that Kelly was just being natural and showing some reaction as the Beeb wanted her too.

Last year, I have no opinions about Emma but the judges' over marking put me off them. I think the public did so too. I think Bruno will affect the public's perception of them if this continues. Sadly, the British Public are a queer bunch (like us in the forum!)!!!

i agree and it put me off too but last night it was just Bruno and not all 4 which is what happened with Emma.

I think this is all arbitrary anyway as we can see from the voting so far from the GBP because did we really all think that Kate would still be there- normally sympathy voting finishes fairly quickly. Guess Derek's spin is working!

When they showed Kelly cheering along to Bruno saying he would have given them 11 and then booing at Len on tonights show i actually felt embarassed for her. Surely she must know if you break a rule you deserve less marks?!
Her and Brendan just seem to think the public ar eon their side.

And things were going so smoothly!!! well, it certainly has given the editing boys & girls something to keep them busy!! - sorry to by cynical!!

They really did milk it it the results show!!!!!!!!!

What next, the red-tops " Pros/Celebs demand Brendan be kicked out of Strictly" - or some such "Headlines/PR" ??!!

Anyway back to the questions, in short it could & probably will next week go against them & they could well be in the bottom two!!!

No need to do the first lift, didn't do anything IMHO to the dance.

However, to be fair to both, Kelly clearly has very good dance ability/talent & deserves to go for many many weeks yet & if they improve could even make the final, but I just think the general votes could go elsewhere, ie Matt/Dom/John etc rather than the obvious Penny, Kelly etc

I just hope they go onward & upwards from here.

I thought her reaction was a bit immature, but I guess it was just playing along with the "bad kids in the class" reputation thing.

Agree. Think it'll be a combination of them all.

Kelly struck me as believing the programme's belief that we all - or enough of us - enjoy Brendon's 'bad boy' persona. Personally I don't, but I wasn't going to vote for them anyway so it doesn't really matter. Bruno really made himself look stupid, that was my main reaction.

But I do think - and I've not been a particular fan or hater of either so I don't think this is just bias - the key thing was that Brendon and Kelly danced and broke the rules and were overmarked and then Matt and Flavia came on and were unexpectedly wonderful with lovely style and no messing about. I think Matt and Flavia outclassed them last night.

I am absolutely loving Kelly's dancing and Brendan's choreo this series, both are stunning.

Brendan has never been my fave, and I had not anticipated liking Kelly, but the fact is the girl can dance - she's obviously trained - and Brendan is inspired and has regained his enthusiasm this year, so go K&B innit!

I have their 3 dances saved to my favourites on youtube to watch again, and love them all.

Re the 3 lifts this week: Well it was the first one that was unecessary, and a) he shouldn't have done it, or b) she should've insisted he take it out.

To emphasise that section of the music with the horn, he didn't need to lift her, he could've just had her lean back onto him and kick her free leg up and keep the other leg on the floor - equally effective IMO.

However I'm beginning to wonder what's staged and what's not on SCD - what with the weekly Pantomime Dames rowing on the Judging Panel that all looks very contrived.
So maybe the BBC producers are telling Brendan to put in 3 lifts once a series to be deliberately controversial and stir up press interest? Wouldn't surprise me. :yawn:

What is putting me off Kelly, but not so much that I can't enjoy her beautiful lines, her gorgeous musical interpretation in the shoulders, her sheer joy of dancing and exhuberance, her stunning beauty and looking sooooo amazing in those frocks [I'm female], as I've said bearing in mind she's a trained dancer, is when she says things like:

"I never knew what a Rhumba was before this week"
"What are lines?"
"Really? Wow! Really? Was it really good?"

Someone who uses dance terminology like she did this week in training saying:
"What about me doing a split leap across you like in Ballet?" knows exactly what Rhumbas, Lines, and dancing is all about, and yes, she is a trained dancer, but I'm still thoroughly enjoying watching her dance and, for once, thoroughly enjoying Brendan's creations.

She just needs to disregard what her Agent told her about slipping into the conversation the *naive* sayings, as they are very unbecoming and clearly untrue. Obviously the Agent told her that viewers vote for celebs who've had a Journey, so she feels she has to comply - wrong! Be yourself Kelly, it works better.

It's patently obvious that the other contestants aren't thrilled with her though, and all the press attention she received pre-show - understandably - hence her remark this week:
"They never talk to us anyway".
It's a shame, but that's showbiz!
