Am I alone in disliking Gabby?

I'm really pleased she's gone even though she wasn't the worst dancer. I found her irritating and was getting tired of her showing off and flashing her knickers at every opportunity!

Whereas Kate's "aw shucks, ain't I awful" routine is so natural and so entertaining isn't it?

I am sad such a good dancer has gone and I think she conducted herself with dignity. I am sorry, I cannot see what has set off these anti Gabby posts.

I'm gutted that she has gone. She should have definately been there until the semi's. I never found her cold or aloof but have noted that others thought she was. Why? A competant woman in a mostly man driven world should have us girls all rooting for her not knocking her. I'd rather aspire to be like Gabby than many other females from the celeb world or have we all forgotten what it is to be a lady.

I agree. If she was a man there would be no problem, but heaven help us if a woman has the fighting competive spirit!

Well if that's the case then it is about time that SCD was scrapped by the BBC. It has become a nonsense and a sham and the voting public (the stupid air-heads) should be ashamed of themselves.

Nope not a Kate fan either - disliking Gabby has nothing to do with Kate.

I didn't like her that much on the show as i felt she came across as quite cold and didnt seem has friendly as the other contestants (but i don't think that was intentional).
I think the reason there is such an uproar, is because despite what people may think of her personality it should be dancing that counts and she out danced a lot of other celebs on saturday night.

On the basis of her dancing skills Gabby didn't deserve to go, neither Gabby nor Penny deserved to be in the bottom two.

The presenters regularly say 'vote for your favourite to keep them in the competition' they don't say 'vote for the best dancer'.

I really like Kate Garraway - there is just something nice & normal about her.

There's something about Gabby that I don't like - she seems smug & arrogant to me. The cartwheels & back flip just looked like showing off to me.

I'm so glad she was voted out before Kenny.

I hope Kate or Kenny go next week.

We vote for our favourites, regardless of ability. SCD has always lost good dancers early on but that's the fun of it. I think that the dance-off is keeping the weaker dancers in. People are voting more to make sure they don't end up in the bottom two.

I watch because it's FUN - if good dancers go, so be it. It's entertainment on a Saturday evening and I love it.

My thoughts exactly. And the moment they announced she was in the dance off she was stretching on stage. Penny genuinely looked like she was enjoying it - not this awful fake gymnast smile that Gabby puts on. It's spiced it up a bit though - Arlene says things are getting a bit catty!

I agree. I've liked Gabby from the start. She was undermarked in that first dance and made the big mistake of not being able to hide her shock. She knew she was better than the score - which seems to be alright for us to say, but not for her to realise and react to as well.

How much further she might have gone had she used a little "spin" to make herself popular; Darren Gough could give a masterclass on that.

I found her honest approach very refreshing and i have a lot of liking and respect for her.

I don't think they showed much of her. I don't find a competitive approach off putting but that's basically all they showed of her and it appeared she was quite a one-dimensional character - which I am sure in reality she is not.
The only interviews I saw were also with Kenny and Ola. And I warmed to the Kenny and Ola partnership only when they had their own interview last week.

You are so right - I couldnt believe it when Gabby started limbering up for the dance. I was thinking that she does herself no favours. She is way too competitive and it has nothing ot do with her being a woman. Its really unattractive and anyone who is so competitive with their spouse, now that is ugly...

Do agree that Kate Garraway shouldn't be there though. She'll be feeling v bad today.

I don't dislike Gabby as a person at all. She's competative but I always got the feeling it wasn't beating the other contestants that was her objective, just to push her self as far as she can and do as many dances as possible. She obviously enjoyed taking part immensly. I think people just don't like competative women (Karen hit the nail on the head about Matt Dawson being popular while still being very competative).

However I never really enjoyed her dancing. She's a great technician but her problem is she has no musicality, she approaches it like a gymnast (e.g limbering up before the dance off). If you watch say Alesha dance you see her dancing with the music and to the music and because of the music, every movement is an expression, I didn't feel that with Gabby. It's not that Penny enjoyed it more than Gabby it's that Penny lived through that enjoyment and expressed it better.

Hope that made sense.

oh please its a ****ing dance competition not life or death! my husband and I are very competative with each other - he's an adult, so am I and we both liek to win and have bragging rights/win the right not to wash up for a week. However, if he's competing against anyone else I back him 100% becuase he's my husbanmd and I love him.

Kenny has repeatedly said he wants to beat gabby but no-one has a go at him about that do they

Can't understand this "to competitive" nonsense. Since when has it been a crime to want to win?

Gabby and Penny are both big girls, with Gabby more muscular. Tall Penny looked in good proportion beside the even taller Ian, whereas Gabby does not have that advantage. It is only when the two girls stood together that you noticed Penny is almost a head taller.

As for Gabby's dance steps being efficient but funless, well amateur Gabby can only dance the steps choreographed by James. Ian appears to have put a little more humour into his choreography, and in the dance-off side by side Penny's dance looked softer with more sparkle, Gabby's like a nonstop inventory of moves.

Perhaps to compensate for the absence of humour and softness, Gabby was at pains to maintain a wide smile throughout her windmill action of limbs, which appeared to have backfired.
