I have Sky Talk and i notice im now paying £7 +vat per qtr for 1571 answer and caller ID. I cannot seem to cancel 1571 even though i dont need it but i do need caller ID. I know if i do 2 1899 calls per month it eliminates the 1571 charge but does this also negate the caller ID charge? What is the best way to avoid the charges and stay on Sky Talk?

Use the 1280 prefix (NOT 1899) to make 2 evening or weekend UK 01/02 calls of less than an hour each month - 4½p each so total cost 9p per month. Bargain.

I'll post on here again when MSE is up and running. I posted a link there to a BT page on which you can cancel 1571 without having to spend hours on the phone.

Don't expect any reply. Just dial 1571 occasionally - you'll suddenly get a "This line does not have ....." announcement.
