They must be used to "middle" dancers going by now, so why the fuss when it's Gabby?

The judges went on about it, and still go on about it. (Claudia tries to clue them in, but they don't get it.)

The celebs and dancers are going on about it too.

But - - they must know by now that dancers who are in the middle with the judges tend to go, and that people are voting to counter the judges' low scores and harsh comments.

So why all this upset and shock that Gabby and Penny were in the bottom two and that Gabby went?

As if, like, it's never happened before.

Exactly, nothing new (except having two good dancers in the bottom two so early- due to the whole judges choice thing IMO). There wasn't this much ho hah about Ray and Spoony leaving and they were just as good.

I hope this is the last we hear of it on ITT.
I'm more focused on the next set of dances now.

I completely agree - it's done & dusted and recapped! Lets all move on there are still a few weeks left to try to enjoy.

Yes, I mostly agree with that.

I'm just still wondering why everyone on the show is making such a big deal of it this time.

In addition to the usual danger for the couples in the middle with the judges, the show's been making a big deal about how much better the male celebs have become. So "middle women" are the obvious bottom two, we might say.

Der Chef says

I will make a wee prediction for you if Kelly Brook is outside the top 3 with the judges any week - she will be in the dance off.

any week C , A and L give 7's Bruno had better find that paddle with 11 on it he keeps talking about

Ohh Yeah

I've thought from the start that Kelly had to dance well to keep out of the dance off, though Bruno's "favouritism" may have made that even more likely.

Also from the start: Len seems to drop his normal over-marking when it comes to Brendan and Kelly; and now Craig's sounding like he has a grudge as well.

I wonder if they were trying not to show her favourtism as they did with Zoe and Emma ?

Bruno has gone and blown it for them !

Perhaps because Gabby was with Penny whose dancing skills are not in the same league as hers, and who is consistently over-marked to a high degree.

Then the judges chose to ignore Gabby's powerhouse performance and reward Penny for simply prancing and mincing around the dancefloor in a rather inept manner.
To add insult to injury, the two worst dancers Kenny and Kate were "saved" by the viewers vote.

I think the judges are all bleating and making such a fuss to deflect the critisim of themselves for obviously picking the more high profile celeb than the one who was the better dancer . They are just annoyed that their choice had to be done infront of everyone having to justify picking the weaker dancer, kind of makes a mockery of the judges choice

So heres the deal judges, maybe when you start judging on the dancing instead of celeb status then we the voting public may vote for the dancing too.

I don't think he has really, Len tends to overmark the bad/mediocre dances rather than the good ones (which makes it worse really as sometimes they only have a difference of one mark!), he's almost as stingy as Craig when it comes to giving out 10's. Generally it's Bruno that gets carried away by good dances (see the 10 last week, plus whenever Ian dances )

I think that's more down to the producers though which would explain Len's fury more.

As for the original question it's no different maybe they just needed to create a bit more buzz this year to get the viewers.

I was glad that Len said he didn't like the fact that the judges had to vote off one of the bottom two. So it must have been the producers' idea - a very poor one at that.

I don't really see the problem with Penny and Gabbybeing in the bottom two! Lets be completely frank here! Usually they have a broad range of females: A large one, A rubbish one, and oldie but goody, a stunner, a talent, an audience darling (you know the drill). This year they have Penny Gabby and Kelly IMO all grabbing the same demographic and splitting the vote, they are all thin, tall, beautiful successful women and the people who back this type have three to choose from! It would be exactly the same if they put three rugby players in! All the divs who vote for the rubbish rugby player just beacuse he has slightly improved would have their votes split! I guarantee you if Darren and Matt had been in the same show neither of them would have got to the final! Same with the girls, too much competition with their own type!
