MP3 docking station + speakers, NOT I-pod????

Does such a thing exist?

What I want is a mains powered speaker system, preferably that will charge up my player.

3 of us in the family have Samsungs, so I want one we could all use. I have seen systems that say "compatible with I Pod and other MP3 players", but how do I tell which will do?

Do these things connect via the USB port, or the earphone socket?

I'll go to a shop at the weekend and have a look, but does anyone happen to know, while I'm deskbound?!!

The iPods usually connect via an "iPod Dock" connector which provides power and audio connectivity (and occasionally Video and/or USB), third party plays (Creative, Samsung) tend to use the headphone socket, and therefore don't charge

Luckily "creative" has its own version of the IPOD dock for creative Vision M (Creative Z500 playdock) which acts as a docking station to charge as well as play.

However don't think samsung have such a beast.
