Did anyone enjoy the Foxtrot exhibition on "Sunday night" by Timothy Howson & Jaonne Bolton as much as I did? Now that was showing the celebs AND the so-called pro's how to really dance... they weren't 9 times UK champions for nothing... what has Anton ever won? Nothing except public recognition which is simply feeding his over inflated ego !!!

I very much enjoyed their demonstration. However, whilst I do agree with you about Anton and Erin, I would take issue with you about some of the other pros, who are latin champions, e.g. Darren and Lilia the current UK reigning champions. I doubt whether Timothy and Joanne would come close to them in latin.

I'm no expert on ballroom dancing but I the angle of Joanne's head looked uncomfortable to me. I'd rather watch Anton and Erin and the other pro dancers.

I loved the foxtrot by Tim and Joanne, but I would disagree with your low opinion of all the pro dancers in the show. Some of them have won many titles in the past.

Yes I thought they were amazing but is it really necessary to be so rude about Anton. He and Erin are amazingly talented OK so they may not have been 9 times UK champs but they were still high in the world of ballroom ranked 24 in the world a talent I wouldnt mock too lightly. I think they are fabulous and I love watching them dance.

"Did you enjoy the REAL dancers?"

As opposed to those pretend ones we have each week?

I'm no expert either and I thought the same thing. It looked a strange and uncomfortable angle.

Joanne and Timothy are one of my favourite ballroom couples. I adore them, especially their foxtrot and quickstep.

I didn't manage to watch the show on Saturday but the times I've seen them perform Joanne's head always looks perfect to me lol.

I thought she looked a bit too 'bent over backwards' but fully admit I know nothing

I would take issue with the OP about the other dancers - thought Matthew was world champion and I know Darren and Lilia were british champions

let's not forget Brendan is NZ Latin Champion!!

I think the OP just meant that Tim and Jo are more successful than many of the pro's, that's the way I took it anyway.

The Foxtrot was wonderful and I have supported Tim and Jo for many years. They are truely wonderful dancers and have done a brilliant job representing our country all over the world. I really hope the rumours are not true regarding them retiring next year.

It's a shame you find our dancers 'so-called pros' I don't necessarily like the dancing of all of them, but that's a personal taste. Overall they definitely deserve a lot more respect than that in my opinion. Vincent and Flavia were world 10 dance finalists as well as Argentine Tango world champions and every single latin couple has made an International semi-final, which is an incredible achievement! Karen and the Cutlers were right at the top of their profession. They were not just regular world finalists and major title holders, but also some of the top dancers - along with Tim and Jo etc - that our country has produced in the last ten years!

'so-called pros'...I don't think so!!!

Loved the dance too, but agree wholeheartedly that the angle of Joanne's head looked blooming uncomfortable. Am in no doubt that it was the correct posture, but it made my neck ache just watching!

To me it just demonstrated how difficult it is to measure who are the 'best' dancers. No, I can't say I did like it that much. I didn't find it bad or anything, obviously, and no doubt it has tremendous technical merit. But I thought it overly mannered. Sorry. If you are asking if I would prefer to watch that dance again or Anton and Erin dancing the week before, there is no contest - Anton and Erin every time.

Do Tim and Jo do Latin as well?

I thought she looked completely ridiculous. Arched way back, head turned to the side, artifical expression on her face. Also the dangling fur? bits. Yuck.

I'm sure it was technically brilliant but it just looked so uncomfortable for her. If that's how people are "supposed" to dance in competition, then give me our "so-called" professionals every time

karen hardy is the most amazing dancer ever, world champion and all.......

I was too distacted by the dangling bits of fur and spent the time wondering if it was real or not. Sorry

Glad to see my comment has raised discussion... however, I wasn't meaning to diss the pro's on the show... just to point out that professional, competitive ballrom dancing is completely different to what we see on SCD, which is more cabaret orientated. For those who said Jo's head was in an awkward position, do you dance? Have you ever been to see a competition? Do you know where Blackpool is where THE best dance comps in the world are held? If not, get to see one, see real dance (including Darren & lilia, James & Ola etc)
Ballroom is about quality, shape, togetherness and the ability to make it seem effortless... and by the way, Tim & Jo don't do Latin. They have focused their career on ballroom, just like Anton & Erin and just as D&L, J&O etc have focused on Latin. Only V&F can truly claim to be 10 dance experts, although Ian did used to compete in Ballroom and he & Camilla do a great mixed cabaret of Latin & Ballroom.
Anyway, enough ranting.
Bye.

That foxtrot may have been exactly how professionals think it should be, but it did not seem effortless. Stressed, mannered, unnatural instead.

He was indeed World Champion with Nicole Cutler. They were actually World, 2xBlackpool, UK and International Amateur champions - but don't be fooled by the word 'amateur'. The amateurs dance at an unbelievably high standard and the top amateurs are at an equal standard to pro world finalists. Very few couples ever get the world title, especially as many couples stay in amateur ranks for many, many years. To have been Blackpool and World Champions is an unbelievable achievement!

As pros they were one of the top couples in the world and they won many big titles, such as World Masters (different title completely to world champion). Matt was also 5 times national champion (I think 3 times with Nicole and 2 with following partner Charlotte Egstrand, although my numbers could be wrong). They never won pro World champs or Blackpool, but there have been 2 couples who have dominated that competition and dancing for the past million years!

Sorry to bang on, but someone did ask!!

In response to an above poster - Karen was never World champ, but she was second in the world at one stage and won many major comps such as Internationals and World Masters. She really did achieve so much!

ALL of the dancers are great and have achieved a lot but Happy Dancer - I do see your point now you have explained it a little more!
