If not, get to see one, see real dance (including Darren & lilia, James & Ola etc)
Ballroom is about quality, shape, togetherness and the ability to make it seem effortless... and by the way, Tim & Jo don't do Latin. They have focused their career on ballroom, just like Anton & Erin and just as D&L, J&O etc have focused on Latin. Only V&F can truly claim to be 10 dance experts, although Ian did used to compete in Ballroom and he & Camilla do a great mixed cabaret of Latin & Ballroom.
Anyway, enough ranting.
Bye.”

I actually always preferred him in ballroom! He was very successful in Showdance as well wasn't he.

I completely agree with you LR. Its just like Crufts for dogs isn't it? (sorry dancers ) Their idea of perfect dogs is unreal. The foxtrot to me looked unreal. I hated how she had to hold her head and arch her back. I have never seen Erin and Anton, or indeed any other of "our" fantastic pros, do such a daft pose.

I too found her head too awkward. I am by no means a dance expert, I just enjoy watching the dancing, but I agree that it looked too strained and unnatural. Personally found Tim and Joanne uncomfortable to watch.

They may have won more competitions than Anton and Erin but A&E were/are in the world top 24 and you can't deny that they look amazingly beautiful when they dance together. They take my breath away anyway...

I also found Tim's smile too false. When I watch Anton and see his smile, it always seems so genuine and he always looks as if he is really enjoying himself. Tim's expressions just looked too forced to me.

Anyway long story short, if I were given the choice between Anton and Erin or Tim and Joanne, it would have to be Anton and Erin every time. They may not be as 'technically' perfect as Tim and Joanne, but they always show complete joy and happiness as they glide across the floor and I find them much easier and much more enjoyable to watch.

Everyone is obviously entitled to their own opinion, but I for one definitely prefer Anton and Erin, they are the perfect partnership and I also feel that there was no need to be that rude about Anton. He may not be everyone's cup of tea but there is no need to be that scathing about him.

In a word - yes. I really, really did!

As much as yes the dance was fab but as others as said there was noooo soul

And about anton and erin the last competition they done alongside tim and joanne (t&Jwon) Anton and erin actually came third and seeing as thou they then went on strictly and haven't been able to compete since i wouldn't say there is a wide margin of ability between them!!!

I have to disagree with that. When you look at the biggest competitions in the world nowadays, the gap between the top of the final and the top of just the semi is absolutely enormous.

I believe there is a huge difference in there. I mean, for example - to compare a couple such as Timothy and Joanne to Sascha and Natasha Karabey? There just is no comparison. To delve into the earlier rounds, the gap just widens even more.

I really don't want to say anything against Anton and Erin, but I've got to say that really doesn't mean anything! You can't really use that argument. They were close because it was a national competition and not all present couples attended. No matter what you think of both couples personally, there really is quite a gap technically.

It has to be said though that UK (and Italy) produce the best Standard dancers in the world. In the whole history of the British Open there have only been THREE winners of professional Standard who actually weren't English. How impressive is that!

4/7 couples who made the final of the British Open 2006 were English. Timmy and Jo, Chris and Justyna, Jonathan and Lyn, Tony and Amanda.

That's definitely something to be proud of!

Our standard of Standard is brilliant!! Italy may well be at the top for quite a while now though!

I know, this year it was 4/7 finalists being Italian. But then again, the numbers would've been different had out top two couples been present. It would've been an even split - 3 each!

People have been saying how uncomfortable Joanne looked in that foxtrot. Take a look at this glorious foxtrot from world champions Luca and Lorraine Barrichi, where the head angle looks more natural.

Thanks for the video; I enjoyed watching it and there's links to plenty more videos to keep me occupied.

I have to admit, however, that the pro foxtrot on 'Sunday' was not to my taste; maybe I was just distracted by the dangling furry 'sausages' but as others have said it seemed a bit forced and unnatural.

I prefer Anton and Erin. Maybe they are less stylised and haven't won so many competitions, but they are gorgeous to watch...like watching Fred and Ginger, or eating Bourneville dark chocolate. The competition couple were brilliant, but more like 95% Swiss chocolate. Maybe the best, but difficult to watch, and for me leaving a bitter aftertaste, especially when people criticise Anton and Erin in their wake!!!

Nothing except public recognition which is simply feeding his over inflated ego !!!”

Technically good yes, but a bit boring
Much prefer Anton and Erins ballroom

Thank you Paace - they were superb and took my breath away. Some of these posters say that the British Pros were far superior to Erin and Anton (in their opinion) but these world champions were far superior to the British champions. No silly neck, no contortions, and they just blended in with each other. I realise now what makes a world champion.

I still think Anton and Erin are better than the British champions

Make you right, beisw. I just couldn't warm to them at all. That dress didn't help, I got a teensy bit mesmerised by the 'furry sausages'

Erinfan, HappyDancer and anyone who knows the dancey world............

would it be right to rank the following roughly in terms of titles/career at this current time ?

trying to view their titles and accolades not just in number but in prestige

and acknowledge this may be unfair perhaps to those couples still competing as they may be successful in the future

Matthew and Nicole
Karen

gap

Darren and Lilia
Vincent and Flavia

gap

James and Ola

gap

Brendan Camilla

gap

Anton and Erin
Ian

No offence meant with this, just interested in competitive achievements
