Hi I want to purchase a iPod a present for someone.

My question is I have Windows Media and all my tracks are WMA or MP3 I would like to put some of my songs on their iPOD I know they are different formats but is it possible to transfer some of my tracks to iTunes format to put on their iPOD.

Another question if I went for an MP3 player instead are there any speaker docks that will let you sit a MP3 player in them rather than having to use a seperate cable to connect it, and have it sit in the dock.

Thanks

go to itunes website

price of songs are worth a look as well as one is usually cheaper than another and artists sometimes favour one if tied in a contract

loads of docking stations, try and get one that can hook up to computers and hi-fi equipment

The iPod will play MP3 without conversion. WMA files you will need to convert to MP3 or AAC (not the best as there will be a slight loss in quality) assuming they are not DRM protected.

There are a few other players with docks available (Creative springs to mind) but there are far more iPod docks than any other brand available. Only thing you'll have to watch is whether the dock in question will be fully functional with the latest generation of iPods. I think it's mostly video functionality that has been affected but a lot of existing third party (and even earlier Apple models) don't work properly with the lastest iPods. As I say, I *think* it only affectes video and not audio but you might be best to read up a bit before buying.
