Surround sound setup

I got a Sharp 5.1 system a few years back and is looking it's age now and the CD player stopped working and the radio. But I have keep it going by inputting the phono audio leads from other equipment. Are there any systems out there like this a Hi Fi 5.1 system, as I have looked and they seem to come with DVD players and I have loads of them in other things. I just want a Hi-FI surround sound system. Thanks if anyone can point to a good site.

i usually buy magazines for a couple of months to read reviews and what technology is current and what is coming out

hdmi inputs a must and hdmi version 1.3 for you sir?
