Landline hacking

Is it possible for someone to hack into or scan into your landline and make calls which your telephone Comapny cannot detect.....we've just received a phone bill for £300 for calls made to the Phillipines while we were on hols and phone Company insist it was from our phone line and we have to pay........!!!!!

Virgin or BT?

Virgin cabs are not as secure as BT's - So people can technically hook up a phone and make calls on someones line....

They can also 'splice' open the cable from the network box to your house and make calls.

Examine the cable outside on your wall and see if there is any tampering (exposed copper). This more happens on BT lines as Cable lines are often terminated in the home and are not visable outside.

It's a BT line via Talk Talk. We asked for an outgoing call bar to be put on the line but international calls are still going out. TalkTalk say BT have checked the line and there is no problem so we have to pay....When we asked how this was possible with a call bar in place they fobbed us off and said it had only been put in place recently...we know this not to be true as we tested it straight after we asked for it to be on.... their stance is nothing further they can do and we are liable. Really dont have £310 for calls we never made... Any ideas anyone?!

What do you mean, "It's a BT line via Talk Talk"?

Do you mean you still pay line rental to BT and just use Talk Talk as your CPS calls provider?

If not (i.e. you've handed over your line rental to Talk Talk too), what's it got to do with BT?

Yes, Talk Talk are totally responsible then. It has nothing to do with BT.

That means you asked Talk Talk to bar International calls but Talk Talk didn't bar them.

If they continue to fob you off, I'd suggest Small Claims Court if you're certain the calls cannot possibly have been yours or someone using your phone.

Talk Talk can contact Openreach and get an engineer to do a site visit to check the integrity of the line to make sure it hasn't been tampered with.

Did anyone else at all have access to your house when you were away to water plants, feed the cat etc?

Was wondering if Chelsea1233 actually lives in Chelsea and has the usual Filipina cleaning lady. Eh?
