Time for a Leona Amnesty?
The Leona threads on here constantly end up in wars. I think the best thing to do would be for DS to remove any new Leona threads for a week just to let people calm down and focus on this years show. What are peoples views?

Another idea would be to have just one thread per ex contestant. I think this is the way forward.

My view is that people need to learn that they don't have to be rude to express negative opinions. Banning all talk about Leona won't solve the deeper root of this problem. It's fine if you don't like Leona, but you don't have to slate her or her fans, and vice versa. If something is not up your street, that's all you have to say. Insulting her (or anyone) just because you might not like their style is immature.

I dont think anyone has actually insulted her have they? Yes, perhaps made observations about her, but not insulted her.
I've been told my vision is impaired,I need to see an optician, I've been called a 'hater' and roundly criticised for starting a thread today. ![]() I'd like to make it quite clear here and now that I like Leona Lewis,I love Bleeding Love and I wish her great success. She is a quiet, unassuming young lady who is consistently polite and makes an excellent role model. ![]() Unfortunately her charm hasn't rubbed off on some posters here who consistently feel that any opinion must immediately be challenged because they are 'sticking up' for her. |

I don't mind people crticising her, but when they start to get nasty, it gets really out of order.

I do agree that these Leona arguments need to stop!
![]() I think we just need to accept that not everyone likes Leona, and also that not everyone is a non-fan! |

Not sure about that but I have certainly been insulted for having the audacity to post an opinion and such behaviour is certainly unacceptable to me.

I have also been surprised at some of the comments her "fans" have been able to get away with. Thats why I think an amnesty is in order, and besides theres a LL fan site so I dont see why comment on here can be allowed to be critical without insult. |

But there is the odd few that are nasty and there was one comment last night, said to a none fan about her screen name, relating to how she works and where, that was by a fan that was very very nasty and really out of order yet the thread still stayed. I would think that they would have got rid of it coz if it was in another forum ( say Big Brother ) it would have been binned as they have rules in there about insulting forum members. |

And then they accuse the fans of being sheep for liking her. That's not the way to have a civil debate.

Without wanting to go into further debate , I want to say that a lot of times the "criticism" of Leona is anything but constructive. Just yesterday a non-fan called her a trout faced warbler.

Its a two way street though as my earlier post explains. |

I love Leona, but perhaps it;s time for threads to be made in the "music" caterogry rather than the X Factor one?
That way, us fans can chat about her without the X Factor anti-Leona's getting involved

Would be nice to detatch her from the series as it is, also new fans won't associate her with X Factor as such.
I also find it HUGELY hypocritical when people such as the OP call up this 'amnesty' and yet they also contribute to the conflict by making threads such as "Did Leona mime?" and by making horrible comments such as: Quote:
She looks like Aslan from the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe on that album cover.

I don't think it's a bad thing that Leona came from X-Factor, she is still associated with the show and so the threads about her are relevant in this area. I am not the person who said that, but how is that a 'horrible comment'? I have said quite frequently that acts I like have terrible that makes them look like they've just stuck their finger in a socket or they look like [so and so] or is dressed like my aunt Maureen (who has a terrible dress sense, may I say). Doesn't mean I don't like them, it's just making a comment based on something I've noticed.I also find it HUGELY hypocritical when people such as the OP call up this 'amnesty' and yet they also contribute to the conflict by making threads such as "Did Leona mime?" and by making horrible comments such as: Quote:

It's not exactly saying 'arrgh s/he is terrible and should just go and evaporate now, useless lump of flesh that s/he is', now, is it? In the picture, she has big hair that covers most of the space and therefore looks like a mane. That's all. |

Well then we disagree as I don't think looking like a lion is a very nice comment.
And even if you don't think it's a horrible comment, I still believe that post was intended to rile her fans up and aggravate them so I still find this thread hypocritical. Its posts like the one I've quoted which are causing the friction. |
