Hi,

I can't get my head around how to set this lot up.

HD TV, twin tuners 2 x HDMI's, 2 x scart, s-video, component and audio etc.
HD Thomson Sky Box
Sony RDRHXD870B recorder, freeview, upscaler, HDD, twin tuners
Archos 605 wifi, video recorder. s-video, scart
Sony DVD surround sound - only want to use this for sound

I would like to utilise the twin tuners so I can record to the Archos or the DVD recorder whilst watching either Sky or Freeview.
I also have Sky Plus with the hard drive.

I have a HD sky dish and an upgraded booster digital aerial on the roof.

Can anybody help?

Many thanks

Can anybody help

I was trying to get my own head around your (twice) mentioned 'twin tuner' reference (the TV and the Sony DVDR). I expected this to mean as in Sky+ or most PVR boxes. It looks like these are both '1 digital and 1 analog' setups and, therefore, are not capable of recording two instances seperately. Nor, I think, are they capable of recording a digital channel while allowing viewing of an analog channel (or vice versa).

Although I haven't used an Archos, it seems that it is just a dumping ground for video from an external source (no internal tuners?). In that case, you can record to it by connecting the Sky box and/or the Sony as these are the two boxes you have which can capture video.

The most versatile for recording progs is the Sky+ box as it can truly use its 2 tuners at the same time. Also it's great for point and shoot recording and series links. This also applies to your Sky HD box which should be connected to your TV via HDMI.

Do you have connectivity for all 4 Sky feeds close to the TV so that both Sky boxes can run together?

If so I would connect like this:
Sky HD HDMI ---> TV HDMI 1
DVD surround HDMI? ---> TV HDMI 2
Sky HD optical out ---> DVD surround optical in
Sky+ VCR scart ---> Archos scart in
Sky+ TV scart (RGB) ---> Sony DVDR AV2 (set this to RGB)
Sony DVDR AV1 (set to RGB) ---> TV AV1 (RGB)

Use the Sky+ to store up the progs you want to record to the Archos or DVDR. You can even do it to both devices at the same time.

Rgds,
Scorp
