If Bruno had given an 8 on Saturday would you be happier

Although I think they shouldn't have actually been marked because they broke the rules I would have been happier if Bruno had marked at an 8 (or 9) because:
1. It would have been a lot fairer on the other couples, for the fact that now other couples are thinking about breaking the rules because Brendan can.
2. The leaderboard would have been changed and it could have prevented the shock result we saw last week.

I'd be happy if they got a 10 and just didnt do the extra lift but since they did a 9 would of be fine.

maybe as head judge Len should say Bruno cannot vote on K and B this saturday?

then again Len did give K and A a 6 possibly from his heart?

Clearly Len's action gave Bruno the lead to do what he likes?

Yes - although Brendan is a doughnut

Yes. I don't really give a toss whether Brendan or anyone else does illegal lifts as long as they are not given a perfect score for it.

I think Len could have has an ulterior motive for giving K and A (this is just a theory doesn't mean it is true or that I think it is true in any way)
Len could have sussed from previous shows that the middle of the leader board is the most dangerous to be because the lower marked couples get the sympathy vote, so giving them a higher score would have placed them higher on the leaderboard, therefore making it more dangerous for them.

Or he could have genuinely thought they had improved (somewhow I think her tango was better than the samba) and thought to mark on effort from Kate.

Doesn't bother me over much except that it didn't do Kelly any favours and she is the one who may ultimately suffer. Of course, Bruno was wrong to give a ten. Had he given an eight or nine, they still would be in the competition and no-one would have complained.

Bruce should give Bruno a spanking on Sat at the beginning of SCD for causing so much aggro with a few spanks for Brendan thrown in

What mystifies me is that the first of the lifts was nothing special and the middle one not spectacular. So why, if they loved that lift so much, did they not leave one of the others out...??!

I don't think the dance was all that to begin with. If they had not done too many lifts, I would have given an 8.

But since they did do an illegal move, they should have recieved a 7.

Saying that, I wouldn't have been 'happier' because I don't really care. :|

:agree:

Bruno is a prat - some of his comments on Sat were completely weird.

Simple answer yes and after the general inquest on Monday it would all have been forgotten.

I don't think that the result would have altered that much but we'd have all had a bit of peace lol

Yes, he should have marked it down. No, the 3rd lift shouldn't have been in there in the first place, but as it was then some (consistent!) action was required. It does give the green light to everyone else to ignore the rules and it will really discourage the other competitors who stuck to the rules and got lower marks, regardless of their dancing ability.

Did they take a harsher line because it was Brendan - well, has anyone else done this so often (if at all)? He's got away with it before (but been marked down) which is probably why he tried it this time. Or he thinks he's above and beyond the rules and regs of professional dancing. He's getting on my wick and the backlash may go against them in the public vote this week.

If he had been marked down, then the leader board would have been different and that may have affected the bottom two. That bit is down to Bruno, as far as I'm concerned! I'd have felt better about it if the score had been reduced - or Len had been able to overrule as head judge.

I wonder if they will take up Craig's 'disqualification' idea for next year. Would sort out the problem once and for all. Or if they can't enforce a reduction in marks for flagrant rule breaking, how about a maximum mark of say 5? You could deduct from that if needed.

I didn't know Brendan is so valuable to the BBC and the press. Just a little lift (which others did in other series too) and people talked about it for days and probably for weeks. Just wonder what would people talk about if there wasn't a 'controversial' lift, Dom's shoulder injury?

As no one knows what any other judge did it would have been nonsensical to just follow them down to 8. There is no rule being followed and no information whats being done unless he has access to all the judges marks and deductions. There is no logic in just marking as everyone else does if they all do it for different reasons - he's there as a judge not a sheep.

His problem is that he didn't know whether Len or Arlene had deducted 2 or 1 . The only clue we know he had was that Craig said he might have given it a ten which suggested he had knocked two off. If he followed the other judges in knocking one of, he might have given 9. The problem with that though would have been that if Arlene and Len had gone from 9 to 8 you would then have had three judges knocking one off and one knocking two off - which also would have looked absurd. Giving it a 10 to balance Craig's 8 might well have been the correct thing to do if the general view was that you should penalise by taking one mark off.

agreed, agreed, agreed.

While it was a stupid stunt to pull (after the whole illegal lift thing last year) I am more angry at Bruno for not penalising them.
I don't care if Brendan (or anyone for that matter) breaks the rules as long as the scores reflect that.

I wish the women on this forum would put their envy on the back burner. If it was one of the less attractive females that got a 10 I am sure they would not be bitching so much.

I agree Mactown. Personally I think Kelly is niave and a bit of an airhead, but nothing to really dislike.
Put the claws away and give her a chance.

Brendan or Bruno, is this you?

What a ridiculous comment! It's got nothing to do with the competitor, I'd have felt the same about anyone regardless of their appearance. I don't think women are incapable of rational thought just 'cos you think appearance matters.

I actually like Brendan and Kelly but I completely agree that they should never have gotten a ten for that dance.

Quite apart from the illegal lift, the dance was not perfect imo.

I have always sort of understood why he took these sort of flamboyant risks with his choreography in the past, as his partners haven't been strong and the "rebel" tag may have got them a few extra votes from Joe Public.

However in Kelly (whether you like her personality or not), he has a talented partner and doesn't need the gimmicks.

The real villain of the piece though, is the joke that is Bruno Tonioli. The man is an idiot, more interested in his own popularity than actually judging the dances.

It's his fault that they got a ten and some people should remember that instead of using it as a chance to have yet another go at Kelly.

*laughter* good grief, are you for real?

I actually liked Kelly up until recently, she seemed a nice enough lass. She's started getting on my nerves a little, and I'm not impressed with the 10 because THEY BROKE THE RULES.

Who's my favourite to win? Presently - Alesha. So obvious I must hate goodlooking, talented, attractive, confident women with amazing figures. Not. I actually think in the attractiveness stakes Alesha probably just pips Kelly. (Though I thought Kelly looked beautiful in her Tango frock)

Yes - you could see why he did it with Fiona or Claire, but Kelly clearly has talent, so why fool around? She could potentially win it or at least go a long way with no gimmicks. Sad.
