In todays Mirror it says that Roy Cropper will be date raped by Tracey in order to win a bet with Bev! I think it's going to take place at Shellys wedding.

Surely this has to be a wind up or inaccurate reporting.

This is an appalling storyline. If they want to raise the date rape issue (and I have no problem with that) it should be done sensibly and in a situation that viewers find believable. Otherwise any social message they are trying to get across will be lost.

Are we really expected to believe, nasty as Tracy is, that even she would want to do the deed with Roy Cropper! I haven't seen the article. Is it possible they are going to go as far as him being drugged but only let him think something happened when in fact it does not?

I could become an ex-corrie viewer if this goes ahead.

Perhaps she'll only drug him up and then decide not to ... I mean ... Roy Cropper?!

then she'll have his sock and watch as 'evidence' and get the money - after all - she is a devious one!

According to the article it has been recorded and is ready for air next month. I recall Brookside doing a rape storyline, but this storyline isn't exactly dealing with issues that people have faced in real life, like the story with Toyah, this seems like a sick joke, I hope it's not true.

It's quite disgusting, and I doubt it will deal with issues, like other rape cases. It is probably for comical reasons, to see what happens. If it is true then it seems disgusting

I've had another look at the article at it says that it starts out as a comical bet, but soon turns serious as Roy acts like a man whos been raped and Ken discovers Roy trying to her house, so Tracy admits that it's all a bet to Ken. This is one of the worst storylines I've ever heard. There'll be uproar if this does go ahead.

I have now seen an article confirming this storyline is going to happen. Apparently they have taken the viewers into account but obviously disregarded what they might think.

Sounds appalling but let's wait for it first. Often these things are not what they seem!

I've read the article too, and I think it's ridiculous - poor Roy. I don't think even Tracy would take it that far.

if it does go ahead them maybe Roy could press charges afterwards and we won't have to see awful Tracy for a bit while she does time.

But then again, i don't even think Roy would kick her out of bed for dropping crumbs.

Or maybe he wants a real woman... instead of just half.

This is just so stupid and unbelieveable.

The rot is starting to set into Coronation Street now... If these daft, unbelieveable storys continue people will turn off.

and just after winning best soap of the year award, this is terrible, looks like eastenders will win again.

Corrination Street has been poor for a while now, they got it right with Richard Hillman, but they didn't devote enough time to think up other good storylines, they just had a quick fix, now it's looking bad in the long run. If they continue with stupid storylines like this that go nowhere then they'll find themselves without viewers.

Sorry to lower the tone but I'd only sh@g Tracyluv for spite, from behind, and smacking her head off the kitchen table. Then I'd let her know that I had no money after all!

She's worse than the usual male love em and dump em types. She is a perfect example of "schadenfreude". Its German and means taking pleasure in other people's misfortunes.

I have a feeling this is innaccurate gossip by the Sun. I read a good while back on www.corrie.net that it is Shelley's that has her drink spikes by a sleazebag on her hen night, and she is raped.

It wasn't in the Sun it was in the mirror and Tracy spikes Roy's drink after catching someone trying to spike Shellys on her hen night.

Ciaran comes to the rescue at Shelley's hen night when some guys try to spike her drink with Rohypnol (tablets used in date rapes), but he ends up in Casualty (hopefully NOT the BBC1 show of the same name, LOL)

And Tracy steals the date-rape pills............

I find it disturbing that Granada and Coronation Street have decided to go ahead with this storyline. I am even more surprised that the actor who plays Roy has agreed to do it. Storylines like date rape are best left to EastEnders to handle.

Coronation Street for the last few years isn't a patch on what it used be, producing more episodes a week was a mistake. Viewing figures for all soaps are on the decline, more episodes means the storylines are getting terrible. There is simply TOO much soap on. You have Coronation Street = 5 episodes a week; Emmerdale = 5 episodes plus and extra one on a Sunday as and when ITV demands.

We had 5 episodes of Crossroads a week; 2 of Night and Day and up to about 2 years ago Brookside 3 times a week on C4.

Soap has gone into overkill, it's cheap to produce an extra episode of a soap than a something else.
