For anyone who doesn't watch DWTS on UKTV Gold on Friday nights, or read the DWTS spoiler thread on this forum, a similar thing to the Gabby eviction happened in US this week. (It was possibly even worse).

The girl evicted was someone called Sabrina Bryan. Probably the nearest equivalent celeb on the UK show would be Alesha.

Sabrina is a singer with a US girl group, Cheetah Girls. Sabrina completely blew everyone away, in the very first week, with her cha cha, scoring 26 out of 30, head and shoulders above everyone else. Sabrina had a slightly off week this week, with a busy recording/video schedule, so got lower judges scores, and now she's out.

Len and Bruno were gobsmacked. Sabrina and her partner looked shocked and gutted.

A few US newspaper headlines:

"Reality Check: Best Dancer Goes Home"

"Were you shocked that Cheetah Girl Sabrina Bryan was voted off Dancing with the Stars last night? You were not alone."

"Sabrina Bryan's shocking elimination from Dancing With the Stars Tuesday night proves just how unpredictable this show can be. "

"Cheetah Girl Sabrina Bryan was remarkably poised in defeat. She had been considered a favorite to win this edition of ABC's Dancing With the Stars".

There's also more commentary, here on this forum, on the DWTS spoiler thread.

It was more of a shock that Gabby going. Although it was definitely her worst week. She just didn't get the feel of the dance.

In the US the public vote counts for more than in the UK. Here the judges marks are converted to ranking points as are the public's votes. The two are then added together.

In the US they take the percentage of the total judges marks that you are awarded and then add the percentage of the public vote to it. For the most popular contestant that is likely to be really substantial - maybe 40% or more.

It was rather shocking that Sabrina was eliminated, although I have to say I agreed with Len's comments. She was far too agressive in her Foxtrot and appears to lack grace.

However, she was a cracking little dancer and should never have gone.

in the usa they ahve no judge round elimation like her, the fav went , so neither system is flawless, the end result is '' people rule ok''

i hera len was furious with result like he was here so the only way to resolve it would be to have a competition with no public vote ,,,,,,,,,,, defeats the object wouldnt you say

I wasn't as shocked as everyone else appears to be - she was very good - but there was something 'hard' about her dancing. She always looked like she was very aggressively attacking the dance floor.
Also, the fact that she is a 'dance instructor' in real life turned a lot of people off as they didn't consider her an amateur - way more dance training than any that Kelly etc in SCD may have and just on this forum you can see what controversy/dislike/hatred Kelly and others have come in for.

I wouldn't be surprised if she releases another dance DVD after this but a latin one.
I would have thought that her Cheetah Girls fanbase would have helped but I like Monique Coleman (High School Musical) who was regularly in the bottom 2 maybe there aren't many kids who vote in this

I kind of agree with this - I think Len would say she lacked finess!

Did you notice though the females this week has cheetah tattoos this week? That's what they were showing to the cameras.

That's how I felt about her - week one she was fantastic, except for the r 'n' b bit so where's the progression going to be? She was more like a contestant from 'So you think you can dance?' given that she is obviously already a dancer unlike the rest of the celebs.

When I first saw that Sabrina had been voted out I initially thought that "Here we go again with the same 'political/underdog" voting that we get with Strictly. But when I watched the show, I could understand something of why she went. Her foxtrot wasn't good; in fact it was pretty bad. It probably would have been good enough if she hadn't shown herself to be so good the previous weeks - and the fact she is a pro dancer (though not BB & Lat) wasn't in her favour.
