Record PC Video clip back on to DV(Tape) Camcorder?
Is this possible and how.
I have tried playing the video on the PC and at the same time pressing record on the DV camcorder when the two are connected by a firewire cable. It records the sound but no picture. Anyone please help if this is possible.

Will the camcorder record from Firewire?, many (most?) won't do so. Even if it does, I wouldn't expect it to work by pressing play on the PC and record on the camcorder, normally a single press 'somewhere' should initiate the transfer.

I seem to remember that this function is a firmware lock out on many camcorders and can be reversed by getting a hack.
Also as Nigel suggests the download should include camcorder control from the PC and as with the upload is probably only available in video editing sofware. |

I've done this in movie-maker. Just loaded the clip into the program as I would for normal camcorder footage and then chose send to DV. This was as a raw AVI and also a wmv. Haven't tried with any other files.

Thanks All.
Have not tried it as yet but have looked at windows moviemaker and read the help. Yes it is there to do. I knew I had seen this somewhere in the past. Once again, thanks. |

You are quite correct Sir and thankyou.
No, my camcorder does not have "DV in" therefore I cannot do it. What I was trying to do, was to get a video clip I had received over the internet and to record it onto VHS tape, as some older members of my family do not have a DVD player. This would have been done by connecting my camcorder to the VHS recorder. However, I have now done this by recording it onto DVD first and then copying from the DVD player onto VHS. |

Thats a good route you have now decided to use. I have been experimenting with S-Video out from my PC graphics card to one of my S-VHS VCR's but always end up with about a 25% overscan. As I mentioned earlier I think you can get hacks for some camcorders to activate DV -in . This was locked out due to EU import rules on Video recorders . With DV "in" a camcorder fell foul of these rules as it was able to record from an external video source like a VCR. |
