Hi all,

Just wondered if anybody else had noticed this, or was it just me and my boyfriend.

We were out shopping on Saturday and we both needed a new pair of jeans. My shopping centre has just been extended and re-vamped so we have stuff like Topshop, H&M, Jane Norman, Bank and Principles now plus of course the regulars such as New Look, Miss Selfridge and Next.

It took us from 9am to 11.30am to find a decent pair of jeans for the both of us! Gone are the days when you could just pick up a pair of straight forward nice jeans. Now it's skinny jeans, skinny flare, boyfit, high waist, baggy and bootcut. Having tried on all types of jeans at the weekend I eventually managed to find some really nice ones in Republic but oh my god why has it become so hard?! Even my boyfriend was struggling to find jeans that were not tight fitting or skinny!

Has anybody else noticed this? lol.

Someone who agrees with me!! Of late I've felt that buying a new pair of jeans is little more than an epic undertaking........somewhat akin to doing the Krypton factor blindfolded with one hand tied behind your back. You can get jeans that are great in the ass but too short in the leg, great in the leg way too big in the waist area, etc etc etc. However I have to say my most hated and disliked pair of jeans has to be the ones that are so low waisted you have to have a full brazilian just to wear them

I find Asda Regular Fit are good normal denims.

edit: that's for blokes, though it can be hard to find a regular fit pair amongst the acres of boot cut jeans.

Just glad it's not just me and my boyfriend being fussy. I must've tried on about 20 pairs of jeans of all different shapes and sizes from a range of different shops. They were either to tight on the thigh but great on the waist, or too loose on the waist but great on the thighs! Like I said I eventually came away with just one pair of jeans from Republic that were called "Boyfriend Jeans" because they are slightly baggy, on the thighs but they still hug my figure, and these were the best fit all around! Best place for jeans if you ask me, my boyfriend got some from there too!

Luckily my boyfriend managed to find some jeans that fit his waist, were baggy on the crotch and legs and just the right length too!!

Took him ages though, he was in Topman and ended up mistakenly trying on skinny jeans - he came out of the dressing rooms laughing saying he could hardly pull them up!!

And what was that fashion about a few months ago, where women were wearing jeans that made their bums look rectangular? It was like they had a cardboard box stuffed down them - no curves, just flat and angular.

It's not just jeans, I've noticed most mens clothing seems to be made to fit odd shaped freaks.

lol. Yup. We were in Topman, and the shop assistant looked like Russel Brand! He had the weird hair, the skinny black jeans, the scruffy shoes and the weird top with a scarf. A scarf indoors???!!! Jesus! Get real! lol.

Yup. It's so stupid. I just can't get over how it took me 2 and a half hours to find jeans that were just normal nice fitting jeans without any complications!

I hate buying jeans now and these new super short zips in the women's jeans drive me mad, it makes the jeans very difficult to pull up and seems to be done on purpose so that we all feel huge and fat. Sods.

I've been looking for a month and have just about given up, I am getting a facial tic now when I walk towards a shop selling jeans as I know how it'll all end up.

If the leg length and cut is right then they will be so low rise my jacksie will be hanging out , or, like the last pair I tried on and nearly bought that had embroidery on the back pockets that looked like the drawings you see scribbled on bus shelters of a man's tackle.

I have just dyed my old, favourite ones to try to make them look a bit better and they are just looking too blue as I watch them through the door of the washing machine.

Seriously, just try your nearest 'Republic', they have a wide range of jeans and I don't think I saw one pair of skinny jeans!! lol.

not really - it was a reference to the evolutuon of fashion and a play on the word 'genes'...

if you weant a shop - how about tescos?

Matalan. Two pairs of jeans for fifteen quid. They're denim, they're not skinny legged, boot cut or up around my tits. They could even be worn on the catwalk...*

I haven't washed them yet in case they dissolve, but fifteen notes! Bloody bargain!

*In Bulgaria maybe.

Argh, yes! I'm size 10 round the thighs and a size 8 waist. Current jeans are size 10 and cannot be worn without a tight belt and my freshly purchased jeans are size 8 and fit perfectly round the waist but are tight fitting round the thighs. I suppose that's the fashion, but it's not particularly comfortable. I don't want a pair of jeans that are excessively baggy or excessively tight, there needs to be a balance!
