DVR 530 HS No sound
Hi, can anyone help me with this problem. I have my sky+ box connected to my DVR 530. When the DVR is on av2 L1 I get a good image but no sound. But when the DVR is on Prog 6, I get sound but poor image quality. I called Pioneer and they said it must be the scart leads, but that does not make sence to me.
Please help.... Thanks |

AV2/L1 is the SCART socket, so if you're not getting sound then it indeed sounds like a SCART lead problem. Try connecting Sky+ directly to the TV using the same SCART lead and see what happens.
Prog 6 is the internal analogue tuner, therefore if you get poor picture then it sounds like your reception isn't very good. Is the aerial plugged in directly to the DVR or is it daisy-chained from something else? If daisy-chained, try plugging the aerial into the DVR directly. Also make sure the channel is tuned in precisely. If Prog 6 is the output of your Sky+ box rather than a normal channel, again make sure the DVR is tuned into it properly. Also try connecting the output of the Sky+ box directly into the TV using the same aerial lead in order to eliminate the lead from the equation. But if you've got the Sky+ box on SCART anyway, why do you need it fed in via RF too? |

Hi Chris, thank you for your help. I don't use the aerial at all, only scart leads.

Why do you feel you need to put the DVR onto Prog 6 in order to view Sky?
I'm interpreting Prog 6 to mean channel preset number 6, in which case it will only work if you use aerial leads. Which is why it's not working properly because you haven't got aerial leads. But there's no point in doing it if you're already connecting via SCART. How are you selecting Prog 6? Programme up and down keys, or pressing number 6 or something? |

On my DVD player there is an EPG and a small antenna thing. I hadn't noticed the EPG updating (although it should have been doing it through the Sky box anyway, I think?). So, I moved the antenna thing to make sure it was getting a signal then I unplugged each scart and checked that it each one was working through other hook-ups, like you said---through the tv. I blew into the sockets and the scarts to make sure they were clear of dust--plugged it back in and it was all working! I don't know if it is because of the antenna or what I did.
It's a really strange thing for it to be working one day and not the next. Prog 6 is still on there. I have no idea what it is. The picture and sound on AV2 is perfect now and Prog 6 is fuzzy. |
