I'm lucky enough to be going on the 17th November.

The doors open at 5.30pm and you could be there until 10.30pm.

I'm very pleased to be going but.........they have told us to get there around 12.00pm to make sure we get in.

We've been told that people have arrived at 2.00pm and not been admitted.

What a ridiculous scenario - we have tickets and yet we have to queue up for over 5 hours! I don't know of any other event in the world where you have to do that.

Can anyone else compare notes?

About 40 of the public have got in (if that) at most each week in previous years so yes, get there seriously early.

I was on the reserve list last year, so was hoping to get tickets this year. Not looking good though.

Who are the rest of the screaming mob then? The studio looks huge. Are they call friends/family/class T1?

No, I have tickets Gonzo.

The studio houses just over 1000.

Only freinds and family get VIP tickets now but even they only get a limited amount.

I have the tickets in my hand but even that does not guarantee me entry.

I have been to a couple of TV recordings (not X-Factor) and some people didn't get in even though they had tickets. They over-supply tickets because a lot of people don't turn up and they don't want empty seats in an audience shot or be running around at the last minute trying to drag people in.

I can understand why they do this for many shows, but not something like X-Factor. Virtually everyone who has a ticket will certainly turn up, so they don't need to over-supply for this show.

I got them from applause.com

You would of needed to be registered prior to Monday's emails being sent out to be considered.

I had to go to Bluewater in person to secure the E Ticket which is totally daft considering all they end up doing is emailing it to you.

Personally I think the public studio audience should be larger, the contingents of relatives are too large and spoil the atmosphere of the show. They are nothing more than a braying mob.

You'd be surprised - the friends and family don't get as many tickets as you think considering the studio houses over 1000 people.

I also don't like to see the daft white sweatshirts you see with "Vote xxx" on them.

The dress code is supposed to be "Glam".

I am waiting for tickets since last year. Its a bloody disgrace.

I have applied 3 times for tickets for November 17th and phoned them twice.Got no response to any of my e mails.

Surely more than 40 members of the general public get in each week? The studio looks huge.

There are family and friends, the shows sponors get a large block, the phone vote company gets a large block, ITV and the related production companies get a large block, and then there are VIP members of the public invited directly by the production company who get in before any of the Applause ticket holders. If you get there early enough on most occasions though you should get in but on certain weeks fewer have made it in - depends what space hasn't been filled by all the sponsors and related companies.

The studio is much smaller than it looks, i think max seating is about 600 (not 1k) but it comes down to about 300 depending on the size of the stage and X-Factor is a fairly large set.

If there are not as many family members in the audience as I believed then who hires rent a mob every week?

I would say about 100 people are family and friends. That's about 40% of the audience at the moment.

This is more information on the studio so people can see dimensions - the video you see playing is the X-Factor set being constructed in high speed.

http://www.ftv.co.uk/largeStudio/default.aspx

Obviously the bigger the set, the smaller the seating capacity.

If the studio holds 1000, and 100 are family and friends, that's 10% by my reckoning.

I had tickets for one of last year's shows and we didn't get it. Infact probably about two thirds of the queue outside got turned away. I would definately advise you to go early, some people had been there since the morning!

The studio holds 1000, but not for the X-Factor. The X-Factor set takes up a lot of the studio. The 1000 quote is if they had a small set (like say, a talk show) in that studio (max capacity).

If you look at the plans for a mid size set in that studio, the quoted seating figures are about 300-600 - so it would probably be nearer to 400. With the Series 2 set in it i know the seating was 300.

Tickets are free......they're not allowed to charge. This goes for all TV and Radio shows, you just have to be lucky.

I got tickets to see Buzzcocks with three other friends and we were told the studio was full but we could go in as reserves in case they had extra seats. Got given a naff DVD to take home as compensation. The bloke behind me didn't get in at all.

Fortunately they had seats for all of us.

It's worth going to X-Factor, but just make sure you get there VERY early, no matter what ticket you have.

Unless you're in Class T1 that is, who just bunged Cowell a few quid for some lapdances and got in no probs. Class T1 - going on the X-Factor sob story rules the viewers will be told before the end of the series those brave heroic lads and lasses have found the cure for Aids in Miss Trotmans chemistry class.

Why the hell do the phone vote company get a block? They take a cut of everyone's voting fees, is that not enough for them?

I think I will set up a phone vote company, seems like an absolute licence to print money, not only do their friends and families get to nick all the prizes that idiots entering GMTV competitions think they've got a chance of winning, but they also get X-Factor tickets by the bucketload!
