Now it's getting slightly milder people are starting to wrap up but I'm still noticing women in skirts. I was just wondering what kind to wear that wont look wrong.

Yeah, a mini skirt, thick tights and boots (Ugg or knee high). Can't go wrong.

A short skirt needs a boot with a chunky or flat heel to look good in the daytime, but a knee length skirt needs heels. At night a short skirt and heels can look good if you've got the legs and the youth, otherwise I think it can look a bit tarty. Of course sometimes that's the exact look you want!

As short as you like, just wear tights

I'd say anything is possibly though personally (outside of work) I go for shortish (shirt but not mini) with either black opaque (40 denier) or coloured tights. So you still look sassy without showing anything off

Short woollen skirts with tights. Or just wear leggings with long tops.

I heard this on the radio yesterday. For anyone who wonders what skirt length looks best on them, apparently the best way is to stand in front of the mirror wearing nothing but a bath towel. Slowly lower the bath towel until the hem reaches the narrowest part of your leg. For some it will be just above the knee, some on, some just beneath. THAT will be the best length that suits you.

I bought two "tulip" skirts from a boutique in October and have barely taken them off, along with some wide-legged trousers they are the backbone of my winter work wardrobe (tip: don't wear WLTs on a windy day as the extra fabric around the legs forms a sail and propels you into busy roads, down hills at top speed, etc. Cringe).
Both are made of woolly, tweedy fabrics in my favourite colour, grey, and have a central pleat that is then reattached along the seam to form the tulip shape (hope this makes sense) and one has cute pockets on the hip so when I put my hands in them the tailoring is emphasised. They are really very wearable and not at all fashion mad; I guess just try them and see whether you like! Both end about two inches above the top of my kneecap. One is from Great Plains and one is from Nougat, I expect they might still be in stock (or in the sales!) I wear them with black opaque tights, sometimes footless ones if it's not too freezing then usually heels but flats now and then. The only thing is that they're quite high-waisted and have waist detail so you need to wear a relatively short top with them. A little shirt with a tank top over it seems to work (everyone is probably laughing at my horrendous outfit now!!!) Try the tulip skirt with opaque tights, I bet you love it. You could wear boots with it for extra warmth too. Enjoy. xx |

Real Ugg boots? You must be on a good wage for a 26 year old!
Personally I have major Ugg fatigue and find them deeply unsexy. Not that being sexy is everything! *Adjusts tracksuit snootily.* xx |
