Recording Problems
I purchased a Panasonic TH50PX70B recently (which is superb) but I have a problem recording from my Panasonic NVGS300 video camera to my Panasonic DMR-ES15 DVD recorder.
The video camera is in the NTSC format so I purchased the above DVD recorder which has an NTSC set up. With my old Sony CRT television I could record perfectly, but on trying with the new television I keep getting the following caption on the screen. (Cannot record to disc. TV system of the disc is different to the setting in set up) I can watch the film through the DVD onto the TV, but it will not record to the DVD. DVD is linked to the TV through component cables. I have also tried on AV. I already had a DVD recorder but bought the new DVD recorder because it allowed recording from an NTSC format and all was fine until I bought the new television. Am I doing something wrong? Has anyone else had this problem? |

Check that the DVD recording setting is indeed NTSC.

Just a thought but this may be something to do with Viera link. I dont know much about it but read recently something similar. As they are both Panasonics they talk to each other and I think it is posible that the TV is sending conditions to the DVDR overiding the settings you are loading.
Try it with another non Panasonic TV if possible. If that works then see if it is possible to set Viera link to off (I regret I do not know how this system works or by what route the conditions are sent.) |

Gilson, Thank you, thank you - what a clever chappie. Turned off the Viera link and I can now record. What a good site.
