IDTV's & HD on Freeview.

I notice Ofcom are makinng noises about "investigating " transmitting HD on Freeview. Anyone any idea of when this is likely to happen as it strikes me all of the existing "HD ready" IDTV's will not be able to receive the new HD signals when they arrive, without another HD terrestial STB......more semi-redundant kit!

HD is such a hot potato on DTT (thanks to an inherent limitation on capacity) that it's impossible to guess when a viable service will or ever happen.
In that respect it's impossible to make iDTV's HD tuner ready since a broadcast and encoding standard has yet to be agreed and without a doubt an external STB is the most cost effective way to add HD to any HD Ready display since that spec enforces HDCP digital links.
