Frozen Pixel, Help Please!!

I have just discovered a frozen pixel on my Sharp LCD telly (32") model. Bottom left hand corner, jammed on green, just over or just under 2 years old "Just looking for my extended warrenty booklet". I know some people out there wouldnt be that bothered by 1,2, or 12 frozen pixels (Little dig at Sonys stand point!!) but I for one find just one really f**king anoying. What can I do realisticly, I remember when before I bought this t.v. I phoned round all the manufacturers and was told many loads of twaddle! A rep from Pannasonic that I spoke to at a A.V. event told me frozen pixels would happen only in the first 2 weeks of average use or not at all. Another rep told me "Frozen pixels, you just massage them out!" Yeah on a cheap TFT monitor maybe, (I've done it.) but not on a LCD telly (Tried it on a Hitachi, and wow are they common place with this brand!, and no it didn't work!). I think the failure of a transistor which controls the shutter action is a fault, end of. The failure of any part, no matter how small it is, is still a part that has failed, for the company to say it dosn't affect the performance of the product, (One part aint performing, its stuck!!) is a lot of c**p. It's sitting there mocking me, when ever the T.V.s on! so unless for the rest of my days I sit whatching programmes about grass (The green pixel then being hidden!!), can anybody suggest anything help wise please!!?? Thankx in advance.

If yon have an extended warranty on the telly then whats the problem ? call them, they fix it.....end

Except the original warranty wouldn't cover a single dead pixel in a corner, so an extended warranty certainly won't!.

However, if he can see a single duff pixel, he's watching from much too close anyway!.

Incidently, as a Sony service agent, I replace any panel whilst still under warranty if the customer complains about even a single duff pixel. As I see it, if you're paying a premium price you shouldn't have to accept a single duff pixel!. All faulty panels are returned to Barelona for examination, and so far I've had no complaints from Sony!.

If 2 meters is to close then?, if it was 37" or 40" I would agree but come on!

It's pretty well borderline - but you're doing well to see a single pixel on a 32 from that distance!.

You 'could' try contacting Sharp?, but I doubt they would be interested, and even if they were, replacing the panel doesn't mean you would get a defect free one.

If you wanted to pay to have the panel replaced?, it would cost about double the price of the TV

Does your house insurance provide cover for accidental damage if you were to 'unfortunately' drop the TV when moving it?

i had one on mine well 2 or 3 but they just went after a while

Rub it with a cloth firmly with a cloth (but not too hard).

That can sometimes get it working again.

I tried rubbing the screen, with my thumb that had a computer manufacturers line glove on but, the little b***ard resisted any idea of working again, personaly I have never had this work with anything other than a TFT monitor. Service agent has took the unit to try to kick start it with a program, I have doubts about this working but have my fingers crossed.

Just thought I'd take the time out to update fourm members about what happened, within 10 days of the service taking the unit it was deemed beyond economical repair and I was told to bring in anything from the t.v. back to my local store and choose a replacement t.v. of the same size, I was also given a five year warranty. I'd like to also point out that if I had purchased the five year D&G warranty offered to me by Sharp at £83.00 per year this fault would not be considered as such and I would just have to live with it, so remember to check policy small print, and not to be wow'ed by "5 YEAR WARRANTY" offers. i am currently making a product which removes stuck pixels and image shadowing (screen burn or image persistance) and i need some people to test it
