How are they supposed to do it? I have visions of them have me take off my bra, cup breast and lift....and it fills me with dread!”
I've never been measured like that!

What normally happens is that you will go into a private cubicle, tell the size you think you are and the type of bra your are looking for, then they will go & get bras for you to try on in that size. In the privacy of the changing room you will try it on whilst they wait outside. When you are ready they will then come into the cubicle and look at the bra on you, check the straps are correct and that the fit is correct. If it isn't they will get you other bras' to try in a cup up or down or a back size thats different until its the right fit.
If you really feel uncomfortable wear a camisole over the bra as they can still check the measurements.
I've found John Lewis to be really good and they have a great selection as well.
