I would just like to say Give a rest for goodness sake

I fed up with all the disliking threads and all the nasty posts about the pros and celebs.

"some" of you sound like children in a playground
" my dad is bigger than your dad" type thing

just grow up enjoy the programme for what it is a dance/entertainment programme, and accept that people aren't necessarily going to like who you think they should like.

Enjoy watching your favourite couples dance and support them by voting for them.

Best post all season

How pathetic is it that people feel the need to post all about their dislike for someone, get a life.

Totally agree with you winnielong.

and posted much the same as you LM.

They are such childish and unproductive threads

I support everyone's right to have an opinion, be it good or bad, about a celeb, a pro dancer, a judge or one of the presenters. We'd be a strange lot if we didn't have opinions, after all! But the negative threads puzzle me. If you actively dislike somebody why on earth would you feel the need to start a thread about them? It's a bit like a haters fan club...

I personally haven't taken to a few of the celebs this year. One of the pro dancers I really am not keen on. But I wouldn't dream of dedicating a whole thread for like-minded people to post on encouraging people to state why they don't like someone. They tend to get extremely personal (which in my opinion is not on) and it just breeds ill-feeling on the forums. Even if that's not the original intention of the thread it sure is asking for trouble.

I agree. Negative threads are pointless. There are celebs that I have'nt taken to, but would'nt dream of rubbishing them. It would be terribly hurtful for them to read it. Mind you does that mean the judges as well

True. Most forums I have ever frequented have 'hater' threads and no one gets particularly upset about them. If someone wants to post an anti thread (against a person, character or series of a show) it is perfectly acceptable - those supporting whatever it is don't go in there and defend it, those hating it don't make their way to the appreciation threads and make their views known and the neutrals just post what they like. It is certainly a system that works and no one seems to get particularly upset about it. People have different views and as long as those who feel strongly one way or another don't intrude on the other's 'territory' and start arguments, then all is generally well.

The only thing I can say about 'hater' threads is sometimes it is due to frustration. When you don't like something yet everyone else is raving about it it can be irritating - whatever those trying to persuade you others say you just don't get the 'love' and it can be almost a relief to discuss that with those who feel the same way.

This forum has become threads about threads - 'Multiple thread' complains, threads about hating threads - threads about hating threads about hating threads!

lol!

I think the hate threads that annoy me are those that seem to be started for either pointless reasons or to "prove a point" rather than because someone has just got frustrated with one of the people on the show.

The one yesterday about Kelly's underwear line strikes me as in the first category - I mean, there was already at least one "we hate Kelly" type thread, I thought starting a whole new "we hate her" thread just because the girl had a photo-shoot was... well, a bit sad to be honest. I didn't particularly get a lot out of her "day in the life" but didn't think it was any more or less pointless than anyone else's - those things are only really interesting IMO if you actually are a fan of that person to begin with. A bit childish to start a thread basically to throw a strop about it.

Into the latter category I'd put the recent Karen hate thread, which although people can feel free to dislike the woman, to me the first post strongly suggests that the post was posted out of "tit-for-tat" let's annoy other posters-itus rather than because Karen had particularly annoyed someone. Posting a thread largely in an attempt to prove a point/get a rise out of people (and about someone who's no longer even in the competition any more) also strikes me as being rather immature.

That said, I've got to the point where if people want to spend their time posting about how much they dislike someone, I'm going to think it's their problem. (Ditto the few who wonder into fan threads and post about how rubbish someone is, or whatever - my feeling is, "get a life!"). I've done my share of "argh"-ing about contestants in the past but I've decided life is TOO short - I have more interesting things to do.

I can honestly say that, while I don't actively like all the contestants this year, I don't hate or even dislike any of them. Even Kelly, who was annoying me at one point, I now if anything feel sorry for (that's the effect her day-in-the-life had on me, anyway) and my only complaint about her dancing is that I think she is capable of so much better and I want to see it.

Actually it was started because I do genuinely not like Karen that much - and since so many threads were up slating Kelly (who I'm not a huge fan of either!) I thought actually other people are saying what they like, I'm going to say what I like too!

Well, call me a sceptic but that isn't how it came across from your first post... but hey, if you say so.

But as I have said, you can feel free to start such threads and post in them; regardless of your reaons (or others' reasons eg for starting the kelly/underweargate thread) IMO life's too short and I don't much care *shrugs*

In that case Austen I think you should start up a general 'I don't like' so-and-so thread, because if every celeb/presenter/judge/pro had a thread dedicated to them - and there's bound to be someone who doesn't like them - these boards are going to get filled very quickly! And that way it doesn't feel like certain individuals are being picked on.

Sarah-Flute has actually picked up on my personal bugbear of people who wander into fan threads and actively troll. I'm thinking of starting a 'I don't like trolls' thread and naming and shaming the culprits.

Well, before they get banned at any rate.

*laugh* go for it, I say!

Sometime a few days ago, every thread I went into had a post saying "well I think *who thread was devoted to* is a bit rubbish" or somesuch - thinking back I should have reported the posts, at the time I just rolled my eyes and thought "get a life"... I can understand (on a small scale) people who haven't been on the board long enough to realise that fan threads are effectively sacrosanct in that respect, but as I recall the poster had a lot of posts to their name, so to me it looked like deliberate trolling - especially spread across such a wide cross-section of threads.

Someone actually did that on the BB forum. She did indeed end up banned, but it was funny

God I agree what is the point in that? I just go to the threads about people I like, what's the point in going on the fan threads of people I don't like (not that there's really anyone left who I dislike) just to start a fight?

Like Austen1984, I'll do as I please thanks!

This is a discussion forum and people are free to start threads about whatever they like. If you don't want to read the critical threads then just don't open them - they are mostly quite clearly labelled as such in the subject line.

You wouldn't catch me in the fan threads, well not without a very large sick bucket.

Well that is just tit for tat. Unfortunately, to some extent Kelly has set herself up to be slated. She really does need to think before she speaks. However, I'm now starting to wonder if the poster who said (I think it was Sportsfan) that people vote in the least popular poll for the person who is felt to be most of a threat. There are only slightly more people voting for Kelly in this category as are voting for Alesha as the most popular. This suggests to me that the Forum consists mainly of Alesha fans. Runs out quickly and takes cover.

The overall view on here has never been too at odds with the overall view of the general public. The general public tend to sympathy vote more than us lot do but those who are popular on here tend to be just popular full stop. The same often happens in reverse. Emma and Zoe didn't fail to win simply because there were many here who disliked them.

With the least popular poll I think people vote for the person they would never ring up and vote for on the show and for a lot of people that is Kelly and Brendan (and not unsurprisingly I might add).

Agreed, it's refreshing to have some gush-free threads in this forum for a change

I agree - it is pathetic.

For f**k's sake, just ignore the threads you don't like and don't start any more threads complaining about the threads that you don't like.

This forum is getting bloody neurotic

I like a good debate - if this forum was all sweetness and light and gushing it would be unbelievably tedious

why have we got to pretend? It doesn't matter, do you think Kelly's crying into her A-list husband's shoulder in their Hollywood mansion because a few people on an internet forum don't like her?

of course not, so let's not worry too much...

I don't like a lot of things, I don't start topics about them on DS. If you enjoy being nasty about someone, it really is quite sad. I found the topic you started quite offensive and although I know I should have ignored it I couldn't help but post as it was something that struck such a nerve with me.
