Panasonic DMR-EH80V - DVD failed

Hi I'm new to forums but thought someone here may be able to help me.
I have a Panasonic DMR-EH80V on which the DVD drive has failed. Drawer failed to open (fitted new belt) then spin up failed & 99 code now shows but eventually the hdd & vcr all start up & work OK. It's 20 months old, had little use & I now live in Greece where service agents are scarce + language problems!
I successfully replaced the drive on my Lite-On 5006 so I wondered - does anyone know which other models use a compatible drive or where I could buy a used/new one?
It also has for some time shown the dreaded 'self check' display so maybe the psu needs updating? I'm not at all impressed with this unit but I have loads of half burned dvds to finish & many hours of VHS (some in 12hr ep mode) & loads more on the HDD to burn! Then I think I'll sell it.
Will another model finish these part burned discs & is there a way to take the data off the hdd & burn dvds with the data on a PC? Nerovision perhaps?
Any guidance much appreciated, thanks.

First thing to suspect is the PSU, it's a known design flaw on Panasonic DVD/HDD recorders. Problem is getting the parts, Panasonic (at least in the UK) will only supply spares and service information to specific dealers authorised to repair them.
