HD DVD and standard DVD on the same disc
StorminNorman
10-11-2007
I seem to remember in the early days of the format launches that the HD DVD format would be able to include the standard DVD format as well so that you didnt have to buy the movie twice and would work in your normal DVD in the bedroom etc. Has this happened? does any HD DVD include this feature has any body with an HD DVD movie tried to play it in a standard player to see if both format exist on the disc.
If they havent incorperated this is it still possible or were they trying to justify the HD DVD over blue ray but decided to charge twice for the same movie and make more money instead. At the time I thought it was a good marketing ploy over blue ray and may have swayed me towards the format just on this basis.

There are releases which are double sided ,one for dvd the other for HDDVD

However these are not popular with consumers and are becoming less frequent ,not least of all because of the price.

The upcoming 10 disc release of Star Trek TOS is £120 and thats just one season
