Who do you prefer: Rhydian Roberts or Paul Potts?

Two people who specialise in the same genre (opera), but have different personalities. Rhydian is confident whereas Paul was shy. You could argue Rhydian is more entertaining, but Paul is more emotional when singing.

Paul's career has started off successfully, with number 1s in 12 different countries (UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, S. Korea, Taiwan, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Colombia etc). His audition video has been viewed over 30 million times on youtube and is now the 35th highest viewed video of all time. Can Rhydian match or exceed Paul's success?

I don't think we can say that Paul is more emotional as appart from this week's performance Rhydian has done more showy numbers.

I thought he showed a lot of emotion when singing on Saturday and I'm sure he would give an emotional performance whenever he was singing a suitable song.

It's too early really to guage how successful Rhydian will be but I can see a lot of people being interested in him and he seems to be very polite, intelligent and eloquent, an interviewers dream.

I think my questions a valid one. I mean, Rhydian is a great singer, but will he get number 1s in 12 different countries in 6 months?

I think Paul will be a bigger worldwide known singer, but Rhydian will be bigger in the UK.

Potts' main selling point was his 'surprise factor', in the sense that no-one could believe someone who looked like that could sing like that. I think his problem is sustaining his initial success now the surprise element has been taken away. Only time will tell, it's all conjcture at the moment.

PS Don't get me wrong, those number 1s are impressive, but look at the countries they have been achieved in. Hardly massive album markets, with the exception of the UK.

No contest for me, Rhydian by a very, very long way.

He has charisma, an incredible voice, shown some pretty amazing versatility in the songs he has sung so far and to quote a cliche, completely owns the stage and audience when he performs.

All IMO of course

He had myself, my hubby and my two boys glued to the screen on Saturday, a feat in our home LOL

I haven't had the same vibe about someone from one of these talent shows since Will Young, I kinda wish I was fifteen again so I could all out fangirl him

There is no contest. Rhydian is in a completely different league to Potts. I found the support of Potts bizarre.

I love this genre. I liked Rhydian from day 1 but still don't like Paul. I can't put my finger on why.

surprise factor of PP has worn off now.

When you actually look at his technique, its bad compared to proper opera singers.

His second album will bomb.

I never saw the surprise factor - I just heard Potts off key notes and wondered what the hell everyone else was hearing.
