Two people who specialise in the same genre (opera), but have different personalities. Rhydian is confident whereas Paul was shy. You could argue Rhydian is more entertaining, but Paul is more emotional when singing.

Paul's career has started off successfully, with number 1s in 12 different countries (UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, S. Korea, Taiwan, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Colombia etc). His audition video has been viewed over 30 million times on youtube and is now the 35th highest viewed video of all time. Can Rhydian match or exceed Paul's success?”

Paul Potts is just an opera singer.

Rhydian is so much more than that.

No thank God! Rhydian made me cringe almost as much as G4's ghastly rendition of Radiohead's "Creep" on GMTV a couple of years ago!

I was laughing so much at SGE that I nearly missed your little remark about Rhyd! Shame on you, I it was fantastic

I didn't watch whichever show this guy was on (Britain's Got Talent?) so have just looked him up on YouTube. He's okay vocally, though I've heard better, but not a great performer and that's what I like about Rhyd - he's a great singer and even when he's not in the sparkly suits and fake fur coats, you still get a sense of performance.

I prefer Rhydian to Paul Potts hands down. Love Rhydian's voice and the performance is brilliant whereas Paul as a opera singer stands and sings. There is a difference.

Yeah but can he sing?

I prefer Rhydian - more variety.

I think worldwide Paul Potts will be more succesful than Rhydian. I mean, in 6 months, Paul has had 15 number 1s around the world. Unfortunately, I dont see Rhydian doing that in his whole career. In two years time, I think Rhydian will be a very succesful star in the West End, maybe with a slightly successful recording career. But nothing more.

I agree rzt. Paul Potts any day for me. So humble and loveable. His show last week showed what a nice guy he really is. He does what he does best and he does it superbly!

I also saw the documentary about Paul Potts and I agree he seems like a lovely person but I prefer Rhydian's voice and I do think he will be as successful as Paul (if not more so)

I think that Rhydian has certainly got the looks to make it in West End musicals and the like, but what Paul Potts might lack in looks by comparison he more than makes up for as an opera singer. In short, I think there is room for both of them to do well and both deserve to, IMO.

Neither, particularly. Both are OK, but not outstanding.

Thanks for that - almost choked on a mouthful of tea when I read that.

As to the question - It has to be Rhydian, Paul Potts technique is poor in comparison. The comparison is slightly off as Paul is a tenor. Compare him with Andrea Bocelli or Russell Watson and you will really see the difference.

I prefer Rhydian. It's no contest for me. I think I've already participated in this poll though...

Hi from the US of A. I love Paul Potts, and Rhydian is very cool as well. The two singers are so different, there is plenty of room for each to have great careers. Paul is just being discovered here. He was on a national news show last night, and on a different network this morning. The Sony marketing machine has yet to rev up for Rhydian. Paul is a singer with a most appealing voice. Rhydian is a showman. I would love to see him on Broadway, somewhere Paul is unlikely to go.
